It's summertime! Time for sun, heatwaves, and a lot of downtime for most people! Even if you don't have the summer off, the summer season is the perfect time to take a break and go out and do something out of the norm that won't break the bank. So here are some things to do this summer to bring a little more adventure to the hot days ahead:
1. Take A Road Trip
Road trips don't have to be a big money pit, you can pull off a road trip to see things that *gasp* don't involve shopping. Sometimes the experience is worth more than the materials you bring home.
2. Pretend You Know A Random Stranger
Seriously this one is actually kind of funny, walk up with an "Oh my gosh! I haven't seen you in so long!" Hug them and then make a quick exit. Or you could be a nice person and let them struggle for a little bit before you admit that you don't know them and you are just being fun.
3. Go to a Museum
It's not the school field trip you took in the third grade. Grab a friend and go check out a museum. There are a ton of fun museums in unexpected places!
4. Do a Pinterest Project
More than likely it will end in a Pinterest fail, but you tried.
5. Plant Some Flowers
You can buy seeds for a dollar and it keeps you watering those little sprouts for weeks to come!
6. Take a Walk
No headphones. Put your phone on silent. Take in your surroundings and enjoy what is going on.
7. Go Somewhere You've Never Been
There are a ton of places that you haven't been to, I promise if you have been to Paris, New York, Los Angelos, there is a place out there you haven't been too, and it probably isn't far.
8. Check Out a Sunrise
Turn off your phone, you don't need to Snapchat this one, Snapchat the next sunrise. Even if you hate mornings and are a zombie before noon, everyone deserves to see a sunrise and truly enjoy it.
9. Go to A Concert
Look, concerts don't have to be expensive. There are all kinds of cheap music festivals, free summer concerts, and bar concerts. You just have to look.
10. Try Yoga
People say it's relaxing and you probably need to stretch anyway.
11. Stargaze
Go out where there aren't city lights and look up. It is mesmerizing to just stare up and enjoy the enormous view.
12. Try Some New Food
Stop getting the same thing everytime you go out to eat. I know it is scary because whatever you get could be absolutely repulsive or it could be your new favorite food you can't live without.
13. Do Something Nice
Do it for an hour, a day, a week. Whatever you can give and want to give will be appreciated and you will benefit from the experience too.
14. Go Dancing
Go out and dance the night (or day) away, dance with strangers, dance with friends, if you aren't confident in your superfly dance moves go take dance lessons! Dancing is good for the soul kids.
15. Spend More Time with Family
You will not regret this one. Your family wants to spend time with you and you will look back someday wishing you spent more time with them.
16. Watch the Sunset
Sunsets are gorgeous. If you are in a city, head out to the city limits and watch the sun fall under the horizon.
17. Go For A Run
Or not. Maybe try a brisk jog? Slow jog? Even if it is a walk, at least you made an effort.
18. Check out the 7 Wonders of Your State
Seriously it is a thing, check out google for this one.
19. Take a Bike Ride
Pedal Hard, Pedal Fast.
20. See A Drive In Movie
They are some all over the United States, check it out. Enjoy the bugs and the stale popcorn.
21. Fly A Kite
This one is actually harder than it seems but still for sure worth a try.
22. Meet New People
Talking to strangers can't be that hard because I see Dad's doing it all the time in hardware stores. People need people, make some friends kids.
23. Go Fishing
So apparently you need a fishing license for this one but it isn't super expensive nor are they hard to acquire but sitting with friends and catching fish are priceless.
24. Read A Book
Books are important people. It can be a completely irrelevant book or it can be a book for school but consciously take the time to sit down and read it. It is worth it.
25. Hang out with Friends You Haven't Seen in A While.
You probably need them just as much as they need you. It is still nice to catch up with them. People are important and so are the connections you make
Since this is now out on the internet there is no excuse for the word "I am bored" to be said this summer. You have been given the resources, use them.
