The Struggles Of Writing

You can't be taught to have an imagination, to create worlds solely from your own mind.

To start off, let me just tell you how hard it actually is to write a damn book. You're creating worlds solely from your own imagination; plot lines, characters, places, personalities. It all boils down to just what you can dream up. There are no limitations, so long as the writings good and you put your time and effort into it. But it's time consuming, and it's so very easy to get writers block. I have that problem, I'll start out with a good first few chapters and then it's like a brick wall in my mind.

The problem with writing, well for me personally, is knowing what kind of story you want to write, but then trying to get it to that point. Writing a book takes dedication and a certain level of skill. It's hard to write a book that people will actually take the time to read, on some level you have to be able to make the sentences and paragraphs flow smoothly, to create that picture in the readers head. To allow them to experience the world in the pages as you do. You have to be descriptive or give enough description that lets them picture it themselves, and filler chapters of a book are the hardest, sometimes they're short. Sometimes they aren't. It just depends on the content within.

Being a good writer is about knowing what your readers want in a good book, and giving it to them. As a writer there's nothing more satisfying than reading their comments, telling you to upload the next chapter or write a sequel. To give them more. It's nice knowing that someone is interested in your writing. But it is a hard job, you have to want to finish a book, and when you finally finish it, it's like a weight lifted off your shoulders but then you're right back at it again with a new one. It's almost addicting. However, I wouldn't give it up for the world. It's my favorite pastime and I enjoy it. I like writing books that I myself would like to see and read and that's what I try to do and you can only hope to be as successful as your favorite authors, and one day I hope to achieve that dream. Until then, I'll stick to my unfinished books, writing and dreaming as I go

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
