The Struggles Of Tansferring

Transferring is a long process that never really seems to end.

The Struggles Of Tansferring

Transferring is a long and hard process, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it! We all transfer for different reasons, but almost all of us face the same struggles when we start at our new university. Here are just a few of the most common ones.

1. Your credits may not transfer well.

The anxiety of waiting to see what credits are going to transfer over correctly is agonizing. You just keep praying you don't have to take classes over again with students younger than you and you can still graduate on time.

2. Repeating classes so you get the credits.

I may or may not have printed out every PowerPoint, project and test from my accounting classes to ensure I never had to go through that misery again. I mean, you have to do what you have to do, right? Unfortunately, we always seem to have to take one of two classes over again.

3. You have no idea where your classes are.

I went from a campus that took 10 minutes tops to get across to a campus of more than 30,000. It was my personal goal not to look like a freshman the first day, so I mapped out all the classes the day before.

4. You feel like a freshman again.

We already went through freshman year, but welcome to freshman year 2.0! You don't know where anything is, how to schedule classes, who the best professors are, you're the newbie in all your organizations and the list goes on and on. Don't worry, though, you eventually get the hang of things...hopefully, before your graduate.

5. You get tired of answering the same questions.

"Did you like it there?"

"Did you not have friends?"

"Why did you leave then?"

Everyone has their own reason, multiple reasons, even. Just know, we choose to because it was the best option for us and people don't always fully want to transfer so just be careful with the questions.

6. You don't know your student ID number anymore.

*Finally memorizes the first one.*

*Transfers.*

*Immediately gives up on memorizing the new one.*

7. You miss your old school.

Yes, sometimes we have little moments when we really miss our old schools or the cities they were in. That doesn't mean we aren't happy where we are now, but every now and then, we might be longing for the old days.

8. You get a little overwhelmed at the start.

This is a lot to handle, and there's more! We get a little overwhelmed time and time again before we really find that routine. That's OK, though, it's understandable considering how long and tedious the process of transferring is.

9. You are starting all over, again.

It can all be a lot coming at you at once ,but it's worth it! You made this choice for a reason, the right reason, and never forget that. It's all going to be hard at times, and you might wonder what life would be like if you stayed at your last school, but it is going to be OK! We all end up finding our stride at our new schools and making friends again. So don't stress too much and live it up!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
