Your struggles do not necessarily define you. The glamorization of self-created issues is a negative thing in itself, let alone that others will sometimes look down on their peers if they deem their struggles to be not "bad" or "serious enough" compared to theirs. People who have struggled the least have more time to reach accomplishments, and reaching high levels of academia is easier to accomplish when you don't have worries coming from multiple sides.
You're not supposed to struggle extremely hard forever. Ideally, that's why your parents worked so hard for you to be able to do well. Instead of ignoring their efforts and making issues arise, you should learn to take advantage of your situation. Regardless of what may be happening around you.
The people who sing, act out, or otherwise publicly announce their struggles usually do it for an art, and it most likely is an act. Stop trying to make the drug addicts or the degenerates cool. Other people's struggles aren't yours, and they're not supposed to be. The struggle is something to overcome, not to perpentually self create.
