The pressure is always on once you hit your junior year and you start looking at colleges and really starting to learn what you want to do in life. With me, I am a 15 year old who is a sophomore in high school. I am sent emails almost every other day from colleges. I am constantly being sent on career studies and sent on college campuses to check them out. No one ever really asks me how I feel when I visit all these places. I am a very fortunate girl because I already have a dream of what I want to do in life. But lots of people don't have their mind set on what they want to do for the rest of their life.
Looking at colleges is an anxiety reducing thing for anyone, any age. But as has been said before, I am only 15, and visiting colleges is such a scary thing because it screams the truth, and the truth is that I will be applying for college next year and going through the available scholarships. What we choose for college is what could decide how our lives go, where they take us, and whether we are happy or not. Only a year from now I have to taken action. To decide what programs I want to do and what kind of classes I'll want to take to ensure I'll get the best job available to me when the time comes. We have always been asked what we want to be when we are older but, once we finally grow up we have to answer that question seriously. In my case I want to be a choir teacher and inspire and teach people the way that my choir teacher now has taught and inspired me.
So many people influence what we want to do when we are older, and I may be young to be giving this kind of advice but, I would tell anyone who is finally asked this question and just answer seriously, to answer it based on what you want. I know lots of people who are going to college that are being influenced by their parents or those they look up to to tell them where to go to college and what for but, choose your own path. I have never let my mother or father determine what I will be our who I will be in the future because music is my life and I would never let anyone destroy that. Deciding on which colleges you should apply to is very important though. You'll be able to preregister better for the future and know what types of things you can change in high school to be a better candidate for your choice colleges.
Honestly I am thankful for being exposed to colleges and applications so early in my high school life. Knowing what you want to do at 15 is better than realizing your senior year that you need to know what you are applying to college for. And college determines what my life is too become, so I'm thankful for who has brought me to these beautiful campuses and places that will one day be home.
