Sports is life. That's a simple way to describe my life. Before checking Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or any other social media site, I check ESPN. Plain and simple. If you're like me, then I'm sure you are on the edge of your seat ready for football season. So here's a little story to get you ready for football season, one that's one of the best sports moments you'll ever see, plus also serving as motivation for people in and outside of the sports world.
I have the pleasure of working for the athletic department at Arkansas Tech, particularly serving as technical director for video production for all of the Tech Atheltic home events. The 2015 football season was about a month away before tragedy struck. Before the season kicked off, Arkansas Tech lost of their own, defensive tackle Zemaric Holt, after an accident while swimming with some teammates after church one Sunday. Holt's passing sent shockwaves through Tech, wth everyone showing their support for his family, and for the football team. But there was one constant that could bring the Wonder Boys football team and the entire student body together, football. Play for Zemaric.
And what happened on the very first play for the Wonder Boys was nothing short of a miracle. Check out this video to get more insight from the players and coaches, and find out how a season that started with history, ended with history being broken.
Wow. That's really all you can say. Zemaric's passing turned into motivation for the Wonder Boys and dedicate their success to his memory. Showtime Sports did an incredible job capturing this story and what this story truly embodies, in my opinion: the power of motivation. I fully believe that Zemaric's presence was all over that football team throughout the 2015 season, and you know he was smiling from ear to ear watching the Wonder Boys beat their big rival Harding and getting to a bowl game.
Always stay motivated and driven. Don't ever stop and quit. You never know what you can be or what you could do if your motivation stops. The Wonder Boys football team could've been not as focused on the task at hand, or anything. But they stay motivated. They gained motivation in the process and kept their eye on the prize. This world is changing before our eyes, and it's tempting to give up and not try. But all know that's not a good idea. Never ever give up.
