It is a very exciting time for some school's because it is recruitment time! You may wonder what recruitment means? Recruitment means a week full of so many emotions, but a week where you can find the place you can call home. During this week you will meet so many new and unfamiliar faces. Sure it can be overwhelming at times, but in the end it is all so worth it. The process however, is a completely different story.
Stage 1: Do I really wanna join?
Some people go in to college or recruitment week not knowing if they actually want to be part of a sorority. They may not be sure if sorority/fraternity life is really for them or if they're willing to invest all their time and commitment into an organization. There are many people who question if this is really what they want to do.
Stage 2: Be prepared for lots of questions!
You will be asked several question, most of them will be repeated. Some will be pretty intense and some will be silly, but it's all part of the process of getting to know the people you could call your sisters one day. It's somewhat of a nerve wracking thing because you're not sure of what type of answer your organization is looking for, but the most important thing is to be confident with your answers.
Stage 3: The stress of being called back.
Waiting all day for a call to be told that an organization wants you or doesn't want to will be the most agonizing thing. You will constantly keep checking your phone for any updates. You will be kept on the edge of your seat during this entire process.
Stage 4: The night before the big day, bid day!
You will never feel a sigh of relief till you make it to bid day. During this time you'll feel like you can't sleep, eat, breathe, etc. The unknown is so frightening and nerve wracking because you'll feel like you want to puke or pass out, but once you receive your card, you will know it was all worth it.
Stage 5: Coming home!
All of my friends and family members who are apart of the greek association have always tried to tell me what it feels like to be welcomed home, but you never really know what that feeling really feels like till you make it there. Coming home to a group of girls who have only gotten to know you briefly for a week, greeting you with the warmest hugs is truly one of the best feelings in the world. People that you will now spend loads of time with and experience new things with and have so many new opportunities with is something so exciting.
I'm so excited to be part of this experience and so happy I chose to go greek!
