Finals week. It is the week college students all know is approaching as we hit the month of the December, and it also brings about the time where we wish we could go back to the beginning of the semester and start all over again. It is a time that tests our psychological stability, challenges our mental capacity, and truly proves how much sleep is actually needed in order to function like a semi-okay human being.
That being said, amongst finals December is a time for the holidays. It entails gift giving, too much eating, and is the one month per year where obnoxiously screaming holiday songs is appropriate. One of the most anticipated parts of December is ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas. And one of the most popular holiday movies, and one of my personal favorites, is the Jim Carrey version of Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. So in anticipation for the much needed winter break following a grueling week of exams, essays, and projects, here is finals week told through the emotions of The Grinch.
When finals are a week away and you feel painfully unprepared.
HOW COULD THE SEMESTER POSSIBLY BE ENDING ALREADY!?
Going through all of your assignments and lists of exams.
Slowly convincing yourself that your professors may hate you, IT'S FINE.
Persuading yourself that you can effectively time manage.
There are enough hours in the day to get everything done right?
When you find out you have two exams, an essay, and a project all due on the same day.
Truly just what was needed this finals week.
Deciding that the fifteenth snack break you have taken in your first hour of studying is truly helping you learn the information.
That is how studying works right?
When your friends reassure you that going out one night of finals week will not be the worst decision ever.
I will just add this as an item on my to do list, that way it counts as a task and not avoiding my work...
The night before your first exam where you begin to regret every assignment you took for granted during the semester.
When not turning in that one two-point journal keeps you from coasting through the final and you begin to reconsider all of your life choices.
That mid-week cry.
This doesn't need to be explained, we have all been there.
When the stress becomes numb and you begin to lose hope of there being an end.
Finals week? More like years.
When you make it through your last exam and realize that this finals week was not the worst thing in the world.
You made it to the end, you only cried twice, and now you have a nice long break to exchange gifts, eat food, drink a little (or a lot) and spread holiday cheer. Happy Holidays everyone!
