I see my sorority sisters being, well, very sorority. I see that they not only show off their letters every second of the day, but are also involved in everything that has to do with our chapter and I hate to say it but that is not me right now. As much I wish I could attend every event and be there for everything that is Panhellenic, I simply can't.
1. I work two jobs.
OK, working for the university paper doesn't actually feel like work because of the people I work with, but I still have to work for the money they pay me. Being a waitress, on the other hand, is a whole different article.
2. My family is my world.
My family lives about 30 minutes away, if not less. Between work and school I get a slim opening to see them and yeah some people go an entire semester without seeing their family, but these people also live more than three hours away. So if I can see them in an opening I will because without family what else is there. Not saying my sisters aren't family, but they aren't a Mexican mother who demands you to come home.
3. I don't always wear my letters.
It's my first year and the shirt inventory is quite limited to about 10 shirts (that and I can't wear my letters at events I am covering for the paper). So the times I do wear my letters are left to not being very often. (Yes, I know how tragic!)
4. I am focusing more on not falling apart.
I have had a rough year, to say the least. As much as I love my chapter and the girls in it sometimes people take too much energy and I simply don't have the energy right now.
5. I am that person who typically gives all or nothing.
I hate doing things halfway and right now I am focused on so many things in college and personally that I don't want to do a half job with the chapter and that may involve not being involved in a lot of things for the time being.
