Anyone who knows me knows that Instagram is my preferred social media outlet. If a picture is worth a thousand words, my account has racked up billions because I post nearly every day. As an avid instagrammer, I am also an avid insta-stalker who is constantly looking for inspiration or sometimes just a good laugh. As someone who is very active on Instagram, I've come to the conclusion that there are seven types of Instagram users that we all fall into, which are also the seven deadly sins of Instagram.
1. Lust AKA The "Insta-babe"
We all know that one account that always manages to make even the most mundane tasks look incredibly sexy, this person is the "Insta-babe." The "Insta-babe" can be male or female and is always hot no matter what. There literally cannot be a bad photo of them on this type of account, even in "silly" or "candid" photos they are literal fire. The "Insta-babe" elicits a strong sense of lust and an even stronger sense of envy (but we'll get to that later) and these people are generally models.
2. Gluttony AKA The "Foodsta-grammer"
The "Foodsta-grammer" is someone who is not only passionate about food but is also most likely aesthetically inclined. Food, when prepared beautifully can be an art-form and this type of Instagram user is well aware of that. The "Foodsta-grammer" is also likely to always have a voracious appetite and no aversion to calories.
3. Greed AKA The "Insta-Shopaholic"
This type of user always has an abundance of pretty things. The "Insta-Shopaholic" also seems to have a disposable income to afford the luxury of such gorgeousness, arranged meticulously in an aesthetically appealing manner. This Instagram user loves the finer things in life and they want you to know it, peasant!
4. Sloth AKA The "Serial Chill-agrammer"
"Do they just spend all day in bed?" Tends to be the thought that comes to mind a lot when I encounter the "Serial-Chill-agrammer". With the chillers; they seem to exist in a world of perpetual bliss eating smoothie bowls in tiny bikinis on the beach or lounging in their Calvin's with their S.O. as seen above. Their life motto is the Italian expression "Il dolce far niente" which literally translated means "the sweetness of doing nothing." I don't know a world in which people have this much time on their hands but it's the world I someday want to live in!
5. Wrath AKA The "Passive-Agressive-Quote-stagrammer"
These users are always well-armed with a plethora of biting quote posts that range from funny and sarcastic to sad and transparent. The passive aggressive quoter is the type of person to keep their enemies as followers and post these sorts of quotes with the goal of making them uncomfortable; all while claiming "it's just a general post" and that "it's not directed at anyone." Mmmm hmm, sure it isn't. The "Passive-Agressive-Quote-stagrammer" also most likely has a very pleasant external demeanor but is seething below the surface with unadulterated anger!
6. Envy AKA The "#Blessed-agrammer"
These users in their online personae generally appear to have the whole package; they're attractive, successful, wealthy, in-love, and world-travelers with tons of time on their hands. In other words the "#Blessed-agrammer" invokes a lot of envy from viewers based on their profiles, because really do they need to show off so much? Come on!
7. Pride AKA The "Insta-Selfie King or Queen"
The "Insta-Selfie King or Queen" is sexy and they know it! This kind of user is unafraid to whip out their phone anywhere and snap endless photos of themselves, especially when the lighting is good. This kind of user most likely invests heavily in cosmetics, changes their hair a lot, and owns a Lumme as well as a selfie-stick to assist in taking said selfies. This person isn't vain, they're just much better looking than the rest of the world!
