The 2016 presidential election is shaping-up to be one of the most unique elections in American history. Most people agree it's time for some sort of change in the country, whether it's through Democrat or Republican policy. So with the nation in that mind set, there are unusual candidates running this time around.
Running for the Democrat there's: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O'Malley, and just announced Lawrence Lessig. Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee recently announced their dropping out of the election. Also, rumored candidate Joe Biden said he will not run for president.
Of all who are running, the powerhouse is Hillary Clinton. Her almost life long career in politics and track record lead her to be leading in the Democrat polls. But, one can't ignore the elephant in the room; Bernie Sanders. His platform of social democracy is a breath of fresh air for many Democrats who oppose the establishment of the party.

Clinton and Sanders will be the showdown for the democratic nominee. Though Clinton leads in the polls, Sanders is gaining momentum within the party. But, will it be enough? Of course, Sander's rhetoric is praised by some, but this won't necessarily get him the nominee. It'll all come down to voters this primary season.
The Democrats are far more united than the Republicans are. With so many sub-groups and varying ideologies, it's no wonder there's a whopping 15 candidate running on a Republican ticket.
Running for the Republicans we have: Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, John Kasich, George Pataki, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, and Donald Trump. Also, Rick Perry and Scott Walker recently dropped out of the race. In fact, Walker encouraged other candidates to do the same because of how disorganized things are.

As of right now, Trump is leading in the polls. But, this doesn't mean he's destined to get the Republican nominee. One can't overlook the silent potential of Ben Carson. He's gaining enough momentum to beat out Trump. In critical states like Iowa and New Hampshire, Carson could be the winner in those states; as the polls indicate.
But, Carson isn't the only contender that could overtake Trump. Marco Rubio is also gaining some traction that gives Carson a run-for-his-money. Rubio is charismatic, and is the poster boy for the Tea Party movement for 2016.

But even with this all said, the GOP side of things is highly unpredictable; as is the Democrats. 2016 will be one for the books. So, please vote and be part of this historical election.
