The Real March For Life

Despite what people may say, this is what the March For Life was actually like.

The Real March For Life

Last Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to attend March For Life in Washington D.C. It turned out to be one of the best weekends of my entire life. I know that sounds pretty hard to believe but it really was. I got to spend an entire weekend with incredible individuals who are as passionate about the Pro-Life movement as I am.

I hadn't been planning on writing an article about our trip but after numerous Facebook posts I saw bashing the event, I wanted to tell the Pro-Life side of the story.

The first thing I want to make clear is that March For Life was not a Pro-Trump event. Yes a number of pro-lifer's support Trump and his administration for the strides he has taken to defund Planned Parenthood, and yes there were Trump signs at the March. But the central goal of the march was to show the Supreme Court that despite what the Woman's March would have them believe, there is still a Pro-Life movement in the United States of America.

The thing that upset me the most about the Woman's March was that it claimed to be a movement which catered to a diverse array of issues and views yet anyone who was Pro-Life was discouraged from attending the event. In fact, a Pro-Life sponsor was dropped from the event.

And despite what people on Facebook may have you thinking, Pro-Lifer's do not want to take away women's healthcare. Taking away Planned Parenthood does NOT equal taking away healthcare. There are literally thousands of federally funded health care clinics in this country where women can go. From what I saw, there was not a single sign at the march that explicitly said take away women's health care. Yes, there were defund Planned Parenthood signs, I was carrying one of them. But again taking away Planned Parenthood does not spell the end for women's health care.

When you look at pictures from the event you might see a bunch of evil, woman-hating people (which we aren't) but I see so much more than that. I see a movement that's finally getting a chance to have their voice heard. I see thousands of people joining together without any hate or anger. I gave hugs to courageous rape victims and their children. We received overwhelming positivity from people who live in D.C. The Pro-Life movement is not a movement of hate it is a movement of love and acceptance for people of all ages and walks of life, including the unborn.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
