The Pursuit of What?
What are we trying to achieve? What is our end goal? To find the things that make light rattle from within our fragile souls? To seek lessons and mantras that we have yet to be told? What makes you feel that those lessons are not outdated or old?
I believe that we need to sit back and observe the lives that we’ve made, the city we’ve built- the realm of real and imaginary that is sewn together by threads of words that only appear to make sense. But do we know what we are after?
Time falls away like leaves from trees in an autumn breeze leaving us to believe that we must gather material things on our pursuit of happiness.
Happiness. A word that we have yet to learn the meaning of, a song that has yet to be sung- two people in dark spaces trying to make sense to one another but who, at the same time, have yet to make sense of their own bodies.
You sit in quiet rooms hotboxing in your imaginary hopes, unable to see through the windows that are fogged over so heavily, and you listen to the sounds of the city muffled behind the voices you hear echoing through your skull, and you forget that life is the journey you are on.
Did you forget your self worth in your pursuit of happiness? Did you forget to leave the boundaries of your mind to explore the universe of opportunity outside your window? Fill your harbor with ships and sail into places you have not been, for there you will find what you need: much more than any pursuit of happiness.
