The Purrfect Best Friends

The Purrfect Best Friends

Whether your favorite household pet is a dog, fish, hamster, or bird, cats are some of the best pets you can own!

Now, now, now, I know what you're thinking... "Not another cat lady trying to get me to like these evil creatures!"

Well, you're wrong! At least about half of it.

Cats have been proven to be the best pets to own and here's why!

1. They are the best cuddle buddies!

They will roll up in a ball and lie right next to you to keep you company.

2. They are so cute.

How could you say no to this face?

3. Did you make a little mess while opening your can of tuna?

Well, lucky for you, if you have a cat, they will help you clean up the mess!

4. They are scared of cucumbers.

Next time, put one behind your cat. When they turn around to see it, they will jump as high as you are tall.

5. They will scare away the monsters at night.

Paranormal activity is real, right?! Well, cats just have to hiss and the ghosts run away to the next house! Obviously, that's a reason to get one!

Now to the actual reasons you should get a cat...

6. They help with allergies!

According to Marshall Plaut, M.D. , chief of the allergic mechanisms section at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, “high pet exposure early in life appears to protect against not only pet allergy but also other types of common allergies, such as allergy to dust mites, ragweed, and grass.”' I think it's safe to say that everyone hates allergies, so go adopt a cat and let your child be allergy-free. Only because it's too late for you.

7. Cats can heal you!

Not only do cats lower stress levels and decrease chances of heart attacks, but they also help strengthen bones and ligaments! Cats' purrs are exactly 25 Hz, or 50 Hz, the best frequencies for bone growth and fracture healing. Guess who will be placing their purring cat on them next time they break something?

8. They help you cope after breakups.

We have all been there. Our boyfriend breaks up with us, and we need to go to someone... or something. Well, who better to go to than your pet cat? They show you affection when you need it and can get your mind off the stupid boy that broke your heart.

9. Cats help children with empathy!

It's been proven that children who grow up with cats oftentimes have a better understanding of how others are feeling or what they are thinking and how actions affect others.

10. Cats can actually help with exercise!

Dogs are more likely to want to go on a walk with you, but cats are just as happy getting a mouse thrown around the house. That means you can get a little exercise in, too! Or let your cat out the front door and chase after them before they climb up a tree...

These are all prime examples as to why cats are some great pets to own. No matter what breed, sex, or where you get your cat, they will love you endlessly. If you are considering getting a cat, please adopt. That's a whole other topic, but adopting is great for shelters to minimize euthanasia among all their pets. Look into your local shelter and adopt love today!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
