Birthdays are crazy. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like life goes on and hardly ever pauses. I finally got the opportunity. I actually got to breathe! I took off from work and went somewhere tropical to be with my family. Anyone that knows me personally knows that I love to run-and-do and do-and-run to all the activities I can. Those who know me better, know I secretly love downtime too.
I did two crazy things for my birthday. I went parasailing which was super cool and I laid back and did a lot of nothing. Hours of laughing and jokes made my birthday wonderful. We all enjoyed time to breathe. My family didn't do anything crazy other than fill my room with balloons. It was one of the most freeing things I've ever done. We laughed and enjoyed the company of each other.
This spawned a whole new train of thought. What if I applied this to holidays? Last Christmas I was driving through town to visit my grandparents. It was the most peaceful drive I ever had! Nobody was on the road. No police or angry drivers were present. Me, myself, my thoughts and my car were all that were there.
The next birthday or holiday you get to enjoy, try something crazy. Kick back and enjoy the nothing. Work holiday party? "Sorry, I'll be busy!" Embrace the awesome calm and peace you'll get from not rushing to get everything just right before an event. Don't be lazy, just enjoy some peace every once in a while. On that note, I'll say this: Peace out, Fam.
