Do you remember that time you made fun of my because of the way I look? Do you remember that time you had your friends gang up on me online because you didn't have the courage to say these things to my face? Do you remember the time it got so bad you saw me crying in the hallway but you didn't stop? No? Well, I do. I remember everything.
Even though so much time has passed, I will never forget the things you did and what affect they had on me, mostly because I am still dealing with the affects. I don't think you know that the things you said really did have an affect on the way I think of myself.
I don't know why you chose me to bully, I barely had any contact with you when you started. Was it because you wanted to look cool for your friends? Seriously, why did you hate me so much? Why did you feel the need to tear someone down you didn't even know?
You made high school hell for me. I hoped every single day that it would be the day you would leave me alone, but it wasn't.
I don't think you know that I would constantly come home from school crying. I would lock myself away in my room and just cry. I would wonder why people hated me so much and what I did to deserve your torment. I begged my mom to let me leave that school because of you.
I don't think you know that your torment made me think less of myself, that I was ugly, fat, and not good enough for anyone. It made me depressed. Your bullying prescribed me with countless medications because the psychiatrist said therapy wasn't enough.
I don't think you now that sometimes the things you said still come back and taint my self-image.
I wonder if you knew how the things you said would affect me when you said them. Did you care that you were hurting someone? I really do wonder.
I wonder if you're sorry at all. Would you tell me you're sorry if you saw me today?
The truth is I will never forget what happened and I don't think I will ever be able to forgive you, but I will move on. The things you did helped me become the person I am today, I am stronger, wiser, and more independent. But trust me, I am not giving you credit for that. I am stronger, wiser, and more independent because I was able to pick myself back up after you tried to tear me down. I am those things because of me. I am those things because I was able to overcome you.
So, bully, I hope you've changed -- I really do. I hope you can see that the way you treated me is not the way you treat a person. I hope you've never treated someone like that since me. If you have, I hope they had the strength to overcome you, too.
