The Perfect Remedy For Stress

Remember what we were put on this earth to do

I think that we have all gone through a phase in our lives where we feel completely overwhelmed. The to do list keeps growing, as if we already don't have enough time to ourselves. In this time of craziness, we tend to forget the one thing that we were put on this earth to do.

There is a story in the Bible about two sisters, Martha and Mary. If you remember this story, you know that Martha invited Jesus to come into their home. She was busy preparing for Jesus' presence. While Martha was working extremely hard, Mary, her sister, was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to everything He had to say. Mary was not distracted by the world or the preparations that "needed to be done". She was focused on Jesus and what He had to say. Martha asked Jesus, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” Jesus replied to Martha explaining that there was one thing that needed to be done, and that was to sit at His feet and listen to all of the things that He had to say. Mary was praised for her ability to not focus on the world, and listen to Jesus.

When times are stressful, we tend to forget what really matters in life, which is praising the One who gave us this everlasting life. A life where the end goal isn't to see how many clubs we can participate in or how many social events we can attend. What you might be overwhelmed about now, won't matter in Heaven. What will matter, is how much time you spend with God and how you lived your life according to His will. Take a step back each day and praise the Lord who has given you everything.

When you're standing in front of God on your judgment day, He won't ask you if you got through your entire to do list on June 21 of 2016. He won't ask you if you were the head of PTO at your kids elementary school or how many volunteer hours you've earned. What He will ask you, is if you lived your life with Him at the center of it.

These times of overwhelming stress that you are going through now, are only opportunities for you to trust in God, He knows whats on your heart. He won't lead you astray, He has your greatest interest in mind. So, when you feel like you're drowning, remember that there is a God who walks on water, waiting for you to call His name. He is all around you. When you take in a breath, you are inhaling God. He never leaves you.

I know that your planner is full of things that "need to be done" and your anxiety is building with every turn of the page. But, don't forget to kneel before God and He can give you rest. So, instead of worshiping your planner, worship God. Focus on Him and what He has to say, He can give you peace.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Isaiah 40: 30,31 “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Philippians 4:6,7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
