Are you a huge fan of the outdoors and exploring new places you never knew about? Do you know of some amazing adventures that need to be shared with more people? Well, I have the answer to both of those questions.
This small team of eight has this ‘appreciating the outdoors in a responsible way’ kind of motto. They each come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share an excitement for the outdoors.
Sounds like a bunch of dudes threw together this idea of an app and somehow managed to make their living off of it, right? Well, I’m no expert on their lives, but damn, that sounds pretty good.
Their goal for this application was to “spread the excitement of outdoor adventure, whether just down the street or across the globe.”
That’s pretty sick if you ask me.
So what does the app actually do? Once you’ve downloaded it, it will ask to create an account and ask for access to your location settings. This allows the app to locate places near you that spike your interest. They have activities ranging from chillin’ to backpacking, camping, photography and more. Literally, whatever outdoor activity you enjoy, you WILL find within this app.
Once you have selected the activities you like, your feed will flood with nearby awesomeness. Your home page is also packed with features collections from various places around the globe and you can search for your next adventure through the editor’s picks, bucket lists, and much more.
After you’ve done a little exploring, you can customize your profile and start adding adventures to your ‘saves’ list. This was super helpful for me once I figured out I could do this because I was finding all these rad places to visit, but couldn’t remember where or what the names were. You can even create your own adventures to share with others also.
I was a little hesitant about this feature on the app because the places I liked to venture out to, were my places … and I was not about to share those with random people I didn’t know. But then I realized that if other people are sacrificing their secret places for the joy of the outdoors, I can do the same.
If I am being completely honest, I am not an avid hiker with all the equipment to scale mountainsides, and I sure as hell don’t have a nice enough camera to fit in the ‘photography’ section of this app. And as you can imagine, I didn’t really think that was the kind of app for me. But I gave it a try and was able to find some of the coolest activities nearby that began to spike my interest in the great outdoors.
With that being said, download this damn app. I’m telling you, if I can find easy weekend getaway hikes and my other friends are finding their next mountain climbing adventure, this app is meant for anyone. It is so versatile and has something for everyone. Did I forget to mention, you can be an avid story writer for their website?
