Don't let procrastinating get the best of you

The Madness Behind Procrastinating

We have all either done it, currently do it, or will do it... Procrastination will at some point, get the best of us.

Whether you're writing a paper for school, a report for work, or even trying to do your laundry, you will find a million reasons not to. You'll decide that a Facebook post or the dog are more important than the things you need to be doing. Then, before you know it, you'll be up until midnight working on something that needs to be done the next day.

Some things that might help:

Start early, if you know you have something due on Friday then start working on it on Monday, and then little by little each day so that it doesn't seem overwhelming the entire time.

Make a plan before you start. If you are writing a report or an essay, make an outline before you begin so you know what you are doing.

Maybe you're doing something small, like laundry. Do it in small increments, find all your laundry - take a break, sort your laundry - take a break, put some in the washer - take a break. It doesn't have to be a big job. Make the big jobs little.

As humans we will make an excuse for just about anything to get out of doing the things we need to do. I even procrastinated writing this article. We are always going to find something better to do than the thing we need to be. Life is full of distractions and things that will make us say, "eh i'll do it later."

I need to be taking my own advice, because I am the world's worst on procrastinating, but I am just human just like everyone else. Everyone does it, it's just apart of life. You will do it until you find out your own personal solution to solve your dilemma. It is something you must handle all on your own. Find your method to staying on task.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
