In the educational world today, teachers are required to teach within state boundaries in which they live. The harshest wake up call is targeted towards the students who experience the absence of love. They tear others down to make themselves feel better. Self love is not taught and neither is how to be comfortable with yourself.

Girls are not taught about self-worth or confidence. Boys are not taught how to grow into strong men. Both are not taught the warning signs of a toxic relationship and how to escape. Some may never figure out how to feel with this. So they keep accepting the abuse because they know nothing different. Self-esteem and girls go hand and hand. It is one major issue in the society we live in. If we were educated on such, we would raise confident children. Not children who are afraid of being who they are. Girls compare themselves to every girl because that is what society has taught them. These teens mentality has been twisted by society. Causing them to never feel good enough because they don't fit the perfect mold of a model. Boys are made fun of for being loyal to one girl. Popularity is based on how much attention you receive from the opposite sex. We are taught from aged textbooks, not real issues facing the teens today.

When students don't feel good enough due to bullying, they will never use their voice because they are afraid. We all need to be taught how to never feel remorseful for standing up for ourselves. Kids kill themselves because they feel worthless. Other kids worry obsessively about how they are viewed by their peers. Never once in school have we been taught about self-worth and that we are beautiful. Validation does not need to be sought in others. Both sexes need to learn how to walk away from any mis-treatment, whether it's from parents, a significant other, or friends. Being educated on toxic instances will be beneficial all throughout life.

Teens are taught by social media. That is why no one is comfortable in their own skin. No negative words can tear you down once you know your self-worth. Imagine if every student knew that. Bullying would decrease and students would become stronger. The positivity would radiate onto other students who are struggling. When life gets hard we tend to shut down and shut everyone out. It doesn't have to be like that. If we were taught how to deal with our emotions we would become self-aware.

Students can recite mathematic formula but are unable to find their own voice. They do not know who they are because they wear a mask due to high pressure from society. Students would leave school as a brand new person. Every aspect of their lives would change. They would finally be comfortable in their own skin. When students learn that loving themselves is the key to happiness, their problems will start to minimize because they are no longer easy targets. You can be proud of yourself and respect yourself enough to walk away from anything other than what you deserve.

The media tries to tell us that loving yourself is wrong. Someone who can't be torn down with words is intimidating. That is why no one knows anything about it. Students need to be taught about accepting themselves. My generation would be remembered as the kids who changed how we look at the world. If only we were taught about how to find our self-worth.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
