The Importance Of Relaxing In College

College is known for being the most exciting, amazing, stressful, time consuming, energized time of your life. From hour to hour, each college student seems to always be moving on to the next task. One moment, you are studying for your econ midterm, and the next, you're getting ready to go out. With there being so much going on in the average college student’s life, it can be really hard to find the time to relax.

Understandably, one may feel guilty for just lying in bed when in their mind they know they could be doing work. But if you realize that this relaxation time is something that is not a time waster, but actually helpful, the constant guilt can be assuaged. In a time of life where everything we do seems to be in the extreme, it is not a bad thing to bring the excitement down for an hour or two and just relax.

Now, I’m not saying that you should spend all your days lying around doing nothing. The type of relaxation I am talking about is taking an hour nap or watching one episode of a TV show. For myself, I am so much less productive if I am tired or super stressed out. Getting a little nap in or just some plain rest can give you enough energy to be more productive rather than slowly going through your day exhausted. So take that nap if you are having trouble keeping your eyes open, your work will probably turn out a lot better and become a lot easier to finish.

Also, from a non-homework standpoint, getting rest is something important to your health! It is so bad for you to be stressed and exhausted all of the time. You are more likely to get sick, which can put you at a greater disadvantage than just taking an hour out of your day to get some rest. Since putting bad toxins inside your body seems unavoidable, whether it be caffeine, certain beverages, or unhealthy food, its nice to do one healthy thing for yourself.

To get rest you don’t even need to take a nap. You could lie in your bed and watch TV or read a book. You can even quantify to yourself that you are being productive, because you still are doing something. Not only are you resting up, but you are getting some enjoyment for the day.

Even though it feels like you always need to go, go, go, it is nice to just once and a while do something peaceful for yourself. College is all about doing things that other people tell you to do, like professors telling you what your work is or your friends trying to convince you to go out. This is one thing that is for you and only you. Take an hour and lie in your bed, it's more productive than you would think.

As any other person on this planet, it sometimes can be hard to find the good in things. However, as I have always tried my hardest to find happiness in any and every moment and just generally always try to find the best in every situation, I have realized that your own happiness is much more important than people often think. Finding the good in any situation can help you to find happiness in some of the simplest and unexpected places.

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year. Christmastime is a celebration, but have we forgotten what we are supposed to be celebrating? There is a reason the holiday is called Christmas. Not presentmas. Not Santamas. Not Swiftmas. Christmas.

Recently, an article on Total Sorority Move called 23 Things My Boyfriend Better Not Get Me For Christmas, was going around on social media. I hope the author of this was kidding or using digital sarcasm, but I am still repulsed and shocked by the lack of appreciation throughout this article. I would like to represent the girlfriends out there who disagree with her standpoint -- the girlfriends who would be more than happy to receive any of these gifts from their boyfriends.
