The Importance Of Good Friendships

A couple weeks ago, I wrote an article about getting rid of the toxic friendships in your life. You can read the article here. In short, it was about why you need to get rid of your toxic friendships and why they are not worth your time. After writing this article I started thinking about all of the amazing friendships I do have. Sure, I've had to go through some bad times with friendships that weren't healthy for me, but those friendships have led me to the amazing friendships I have today and have made me appreciate the great friends I have had all along.

Having good friends in your life is one of the best things you can have. Some people have one good friend and others have twenty, but if you at least have that one person you can count on and confide in, you are blessed. Sitting here and thinking about the amazing friends I have in my life, I realize just how truly blessed I am. I have friends that have been there since middle school and other friends that I didn't meet until college. No matter what stage of life I met my friends in, I am so truly blessed and grateful to have them. Sometimes it takes having some bad friendships in your life to realize which ones of your friends truly care and to realize just how blessed you are.

To my friends:

Thank you, thank you for everything, thank you for being there and loving me unconditionally, thank you for the laughs and the times you have let me cry to you. Thank you for letting me confide in you and always being there to listen. Thank you for the memories, whether it is just hanging out and eating bad food or going on adventures together. Thank you for being my friend even when life gets super busy. I'm sorry sometimes life gets busy and we don't always get to hang out or talk as much as we want but I'm thankful that you're still there. I promise to always be there for you no matter what life throws our way. No matter how far our life paths stray from each other, I will still be there, whether it is 2am or 2pm, I will be there. Thank you for continuing to be my friend throughout all of life's ups and downs. Without you, I would not be the person I am today. Having good friends like you is what every person needs in their life and I will always cherish our friendship no matter where life takes us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
