To The Girl Who Loves Others More Than Herself

Loving yourself is hard, but it's something you deserve.

You owe yourself the love that you so freely give to other people.

You often find yourself being the person in the room with the biggest heart, and that's not a bad thing. The only catch about your big heart is that it doesn't seem so big when it involves yourself.

You're the type of person that will go out of her way to make others happy. You've always been that way since you were a little girl. You could ask just about anyone involved in your life what type of person you are and they would all say the same exact thing.

"She's the type of girl that will constantly do whatever it takes to make those around her happy. She's constantly smiling and giggling, bringing joy to all of those she encounters."

If someone in front of you at the grocery store was short a few dollars, you would willingly pay the difference for them. If someone needed a jacket in the rain, you would gladly hand them yours. If someone were to post a sad Facebook status or tweet, you would go out of your way to message them separately and try to be their friend.

You love everyone unconditionally, so why is it that you have a hard time loving yourself?

When you look in the mirror, you can see it in your own eyes. You lack confidence in yourself and your capabilities. You're insecure about your appearance. You second guess everything you do. You worry about if people really like you.

You spend so much of your time, effort and energy trying to help others that you've lost yourself in the process.

I've known people just like you my entire life. I've loved people like you. I've been someone like you.

I want you to know that just because you enjoy helping other people doesn't mean you can't take time to help yourself. Being the type of person you are, it will feel like you're going against your better judgment.

I want you to know that it is okay to be selfish.

In this day and age being selfish isn't a bad thing when it comes to certain aspects of your own life.

I want you to start complimenting yourself. You may not see how incredible of a person you are in the grand scheme of things, but you truly are the type of person that most people aspire to be.

You have a pure heart and a kind soul.

I want you to start doing things for yourself. Start buying yourself little things that you want, but you've convinced yourself you don't really need. Who cares if you spend fifty dollars on yourself once in a while?

You deserve the world.

I want you to start loving yourself with the same unconditional love that you've shared with everybody else. If anybody on this planet deserves that type of love, it's you.

You are worth it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
