9 Things You Hear When You're A Girl Who Loves Football

So you are the girl who likes to sit on the couch and question every bad call the referee makes during the game? I am sure you have heard at least one of these statements at some point in life.

In a male dominated sports world, it is hard being the girl who likes football. No, we are not just trying to get attention we really want to watch the game. Football season is revving up and ready to go, so ladies go ahead and brace yourself for the questioning comments and the snickers from men when you pipe up and provide some commentary on the play that just happened. No worries, I get where you are coming from!

I have full faith that in reality you probably know just about as much or even more than the former third string quarterback who is also attending your friends football party and thinks he is God's gift to football since he threw one touchdown pass in high school that won the game. You will probably hear these things on more than one occasion this fall, but if not here is a short list of things people say to you when you are a girl who loves football.

1. You mean you know what that play was?

Um yes...! Do I have stupid written across my forehead?

2. All the guys think it's funny when you say something about the game. They all know what your intentions are.

Well, if my intentions are to sit here and have a conversation about the game and things that have happened that in turn could be a difference maker then sure, they know my intentions.

3. Would you not rather do something else than sit here with a bunch of guys drinking beer and yelling at the tv?

Actually I am sitting right in the middle and yelling louder than most of them put together. They can keep the beer though, gotta watch my calories.

4. The only reason you like watching football is because it's your boyfriends team, you are such a bandwagon fan!

If you must know, I watch football because I like it and I root for my team because I want to. He has his own team and when we play each other there is more trash talk between the two of us than on Twitter as a whole.

5. Tailgates are just social events, why are you so excited?

Just social events huh? I guess you have never experienced tail gate food or the amazing game of corn hole.

6. It is just a game!

Seriously quit obsessing. Football is not just a game. It is a way of life. Sorry I don't sit around and gossip all day with you.

7. Do you really even know what you're doing when you fill out your bowl game bracket pick thing?

The real question at hand here is why would I put so much time and effort into something I knew nothing about? Do you even realize how long I contemplated on who I picked winning each game? There is countless hours of studying and many things to consider when picking each winner!

8. Seriously? You are mad that I am getting married on a Saturday in October?

Well, technically not mad just frustrated because now I have to figure out how to watch the game with no internet connection. It is rivalry week and I cannot miss any action!

9. Can you teach me about football?

The answer is no. You have to want to learn the game and not ask to be taught just so you don't get super bored when tagging along with your fella and his bros to watch the game at your local chicken wing joint.

So to my fellow football lovin' girls, keep on keeping on. Football season is way worth all of questions we get.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
