The Gift Of God's Grace

The gift He wishes to give, from Him to us.

Every day, I wake up with a to-do list already playing through my mind. I think of all of my priorities and responsibilities that need attending to. It could be as simple as replying to an email, making a phone call, feeding my pets, doing laundry or whatnot, but I still can't help from stressing over daily activities. This can also ring true when I have failed at a certain task or someone in my life. We of course, as humans, will never be perfect, but somehow it's still a habit for us to try to be. Nothing is wrong with trying to be better or improve, but we can find relief in the fact the God's grace is sufficient enough for us.

Grace is defined as, "the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings." Personally, I like to think of God's grace as a gift. It's something we haven't earned, but something God would like to give us. Normally, when you give someone a present or gift, the goal is for them to accept your gift and to enjoy it. I think, for God, the concept is similar. It's not as complicated as we may think. God sees us as his children. His grace is a gift he wants to give us and something he hopes we each accept and appreciate.

Jesus didn't deserve the cruel treatment he received or his ultimate sacrifice; dying on the cross for us. However, he chose to do so anyways. He didn't have to. Jesus could have walked away and let humanity continue down the dangerous path it was on, but he couldn't . He loved everyone around him, even me and you who weren't alive yet. There's something beautiful about that. He chose to love us even when not all of us would give him the same love in return. He wanted to give us a chance. How many people in our lives would be willing to do what he did for us? Most likely, we wouldn't be able to count on anyone to do such an act of love.

One acronym I like to use to remember this can be by using the word "grace" itself. For example, "GRACE" can stand for " God's Righteousness At Christ's Expense." This is a simple reminder of Jesus's sacrifice and the gift we can receive from it.

Overall, it can be a humbling and relieving thing to realize that God's grace is sufficient. No matter what our sin or wrongdoings may be, God's grace can restore us. God loves our flaws just as much as our strengths. Such is demonstrated in 2 Corinthians 12:9, which says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness." He loves every part of us. He is our creator. He knows every hair on our head. For instance, in Luke 12:7 it says, "And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
