To The Friends Who Have Changed My Life

Having a good group of friends is so important, and I'm happy to say that I've found the best.

Everyone has their best friend or their group of friends that they say changed their life. There's probably a group message involved with a "clever" name and many, many inside jokes. I'm here to say that I too have one of these groups that completely changed my life. So many things would be different had I never met them.

Dear squad,

Wow. Little freshman me last year would never have believed that I would have the group that I have now. I spent basically all of my freshman year in my dorm room or my Big's. My Big was my best friend, but then she dropped the news that she was transferring and I pretty much thought my life was over. I didn't really feel like I had a solid group of friends at the time and was terrified that the upcoming year would be a very lonely one.

Then, I met you guys. Recruitment happened and the four of us sophomores got super close and welcomed in the four of you freshmen into our already crazy group. Our group quickly grew to ten and every night there were at least five people in my room.

And wow, I could not have made it through first semester without you guys. Through our group, I found my fantastic Little, grew closer with some old friends, gained some new amazing friends and learned a ton. You guys have completely changed my life in such a short time and I could never tell you how thankful I am, but I can try.

Thank you for the countless nights spent gossiping and talking about life in my room. Thanks for always letting me vent about whatever problem was going on in my life at the time.

Thank you for being there for me when it felt like my entire life was falling apart. Through all the tears, anger and drama, you guys were there, supporting me 100 percent. Thank you for always being my biggest support system and for always knowing when I just need a laugh or a shoulder to cry on.

Thank you for always being willing to have a photoshoot at every single event we go to. Thanks for playing in the snow with me and for always being down for a cuddle. Thanks for helping me up when I'm down and for encouraging me to shoot for my dreams.

Thanks for letting me make fun of you guys constantly and for not (completely) hating me when I correct your grammar on the GroupMe. Thanks for letting me be my stupid, sarcastic self 100 percent of the time with you guys and for never making me feel inadequate or that I need to change.

And to the freshmen -- thanks for sticking with me when I decided you were all my Little's (just so I didn't ruin the real surprise!).

I've never had a friend group like you guys. I've never felt like I can say anything that comes to mind in a group of so many people without worrying about being judged or made fun of behind my back. Some of the best moments of this year have come from you guys sitting on my floor and laughing about whatever was going on that day. I love having you guys as honorary members of TK 419.

You guys are such a big blessing in my life and I have no clue where I'd be without you. I can't wait to see what the next couple of years brings for us. You guys are the best and I love each one of you more than you could ever know.

Love,

A proud member of your squad

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
