Today, I took some time to think about what I would do if it was not for my friends. Each and every one of them helped me in different ways and continue to help bring out the sides of myself that I personally find difficult to do on my own. This is a little tribute to them.
Miss Freedom.
You are crazy. You have this ability to seek out the unknown in a way that honestly scares me most of the time. You do not look for reasons to do things but instead, just do them. I love that because it makes me feel more adventurous and carefree. You are the friend I go to when I need to get out of myself and just disconnect from the world for a little bit. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me over the past couple years. I would never leave my house if it was not for you.
Twin.
You have been there since the beginning of it all. We have had our ups and downs over the years and we do not always get along. I will always love you, though, and no matter how far we drift apart ,you will always be my brother. I can count on you whenever I need someone who understands everything I've gone through. You are the one friend I never plan on losing. Thank you for always being by my side.
Mistress of Doom.
You were once one of those friends that I never really knew that well, but once I took the time to know you, we connected really well. You are the friend that I know will always be honest with me. We are so different from each other yet so similar at the same time. I love that about us and your creativity and logical understanding will allow me to always admire you. Thank you for showing me that people can be artsy and smart.
Mr. Opportunity.
You have been able to stick with me through a large chunk of my childhood. One of the very few who managed to do so. You will always serve as a reminder that you can make your life whatever you want it to be simply with some hard work and good luck. It has been a blast being your friend. I can not wait to see what crazy things take form in your future. Thank you for standing by me for so long.
The Newbie
We are 'friends' but not close yet. I want to be, though. You strike me as an amazing person with tons of stories and lessons to hear about. You remind me a lot of a friend I used to have in elementary school before I moved. You strike me as the harmonious blend of independence and community. I hope we have the chance to get closer to one another because with that I think we could have a friendship that would last a lifetime.
Every person you cross paths with through your life impacts you in a way. Some obviously more than others, but everyone has their role. The best thing we can do is take the time to recognize and appreciate those who leave lasting impressions.
