1. The Campus Toilet Paper
Campus toilet paper sucks in general, but it really sucks when you’re trying to blow your nose with it. It’s one-ply, meaning it rips your skin to shreds while you’re just trying to get your sniffles under reasonable control.
2. Having the Sniffles in Class
It’s never any fun to be that kid who is sniffling every 2 minutes while the professor is trying to explain a concept or even worse: during an exam.
3. Losing Your Voice
I don't know about everyone else, but I have classes that I need to speak in to earn any points. But when you show up to class sounding like that old lady from Spongebob who bought all the chocolate earning points becomes next to impossible...or just really embarrassing and slightly painful.
4. Not Really Being Able to Take a Sick Day
I mean, technically we can skip class whenever we want. But sometimes it’s way more stressful than relaxing to skip class. While it might feel good to take a break and curl up in bed with tea, tissues and Netflix, it never feels good to go back to class not understanding 50 topics or that the professor randomly decided to take attendance. So you just crawl to class with your homework ready looking like:
5. Having to Walk Outside to Class
Most of the time I enjoy this because it gives me a quick break to snag some fresh air, but when I’m sick this is the absolute worst. The air burns my nose because of the stupid campus toilet paper, the cold tears up my throat because I’ve been coughing non stop, the heat makes me sweatier than I already was, and the rain just makes me sick and wet…there’s nothing good about it, and by the time I get to my next class I probably look like I belong on the set of "The Walking Dead."
So that’s it. The top five worst things about being sick in college…written by the sick college girl who is slowly suffering through all of them as we speak, cough or sniffle.
