I feel as though failure is something that is always lurking behind us. A dark figure that we know is there but as long as we go along our way and step in just the right places it’ll be okay and we won’t have to deal with it. But why exactly are we afraid to fail, what is the big deal about it? For some, it may be the worry of being a disappointment, for others it maybe they never have before and they are just scared. The perception of failure is what holds us back, we worry. We worry about EVERYTHING. We worry if what we are doing is right, we worry what others are thinking about us, and we worry that we just plain won’t be able to do it. The reality of this all is you are going to fail. Failure is a part of life and it is just a part of the experience that exists to help us push through what life throws at us. It allows us a platform for which we can use our tools of experience to better ourselves and our circumstances.
Rather than looking at failure as such a negative process, we should turn it into a more positive one. One, that we can control rather than the other way around. We need to be at peace that at some point failure will exist, but regardless we will get through it. It is also important to note, that there isn’t always a right answer. The answer is more often what you feel is right and what you have the ability to back-up. Do not back down from your ideas just because someone else thought a different way, stand up for yourself and advocate for your beliefs. This is an important and typically forgotten idea. Allow yourself to break through this preconceived thought that because you didn’t recite the “best” answer means that you are completely wrong. This is all part of turning failure into a more positive idea; allowing for your own answers eliminates this fear that some part of what you’re saying is wrong. In this nature and context, failure is a mere perception. A perception that is different for each individual that looks at it and different in relation to each specific circumstance. I challenge you to fight through the boundaries that hold you back from saying exactly what you think and feel. Be your own advocate and create the answers rather than looking for them through a third party. You are enough to answer these tough questions. You have the knowledge, it’s just a matter of applying it and being able to relay your thoughts. You can do this, and you should never be afraid of the failure that everyone experiences in this world.
