Is God real? If so, what God is real? How can we know? Can we know for sure?
I believe that God exists. I believe in the Christian God that is displayed in the Bible. I will talk about the issue evil and suffering in the world and how desperately we are in need of a loving God because of this suffering. I don’t think life would have a meaning without a God.
If you study mankind as a whole, or even study individuals you will find that every single human has made many mistakes in their life. Many of the mistakes we make lead to more mistakes, and eventually it comes to the point where we feel like it’s not possible for us to make more mistakes. We feel hopeless and worthless. We suffer because of these mistakes we make and we blame God, nature, the universe, or other people, but we seem to not like to blame ourselves for the suffering we go through. We create the suffering by the poor decisions that we make and we lead ourselves down a path of darkness. Still, many think that God does not exists because if He did then He would stop the suffering. When I first look at this argument it is hard to prove that God actually loves us.
To argue against someone who doesn’t believe in God because of the suffering in the world I would tell them about the nature of God. As we read the bible we learn more about the nature of God. The bible explains that God gives humans free will. Free will implies that we are given the choice to pick either God (good) or things of the world (evil). When we pick evil we separate ourselves from God and the more we pick evil the further we come from him. The reason why God gives us free will is because the number one most important thing to Him is a personal relationship with us where we actually love Him. If we were forced to love God the relationship that we would have with Him would not be a relationship we would want to be in because we want to be able to choose whether or not we love someone or not.
Even when we choose to love God we still make mistakes, thus we still suffer. If we had the power to make perfect decisions all of the time, then we would have no need for God. We wouldn’t even question if there was a God or not because we would not be in need of a higher power than us. The Bible explains that not one man is perfect, not even a single man, and we are all broken down by sin (the decisions we make that separate us from God). So because of our unending mistakes we need an unending love to support us. That love has been given to us through Gods son Jesus Christ. Jesus died and suffered on a cross to take all of the pain of the world's sufferings so that we don’t have to. He made it so that we don’t have to suffer. Someone may argue that if that really happened they would not feel any pain, all of it would be taken away from them just like that. Another thing the Bible teaches about the nature of God is that in order to be forgiven of our sins we must go to Jesus and ask him to forgive us; we must repent before he can do anything about it. For example, a person’s hair will grow and grow longer every day. If their hair is long, it’s not because a barber does not exist, but they choose not to cut it. Their hair won’t be cut unless he goes to the barber to get it cut. In the same way, a man’s sins will way him down unless he goes to God and allows him to take the burdens away.
I find it very hard to believe that God doesn’t exist. The many amazing things such as how large the universe is, or how the solar system works perfectly, or how a wound heals by its self, every human eye is different from one another. None of the amazing things in this universe could come out of pure chance. Science explains that something cannot be created out of nothing. Science further explains that something can come out of nothing unless the “laws of nature” make it so. Scientists have said that the scientific laws of nature are not physical but act on the physical, were in existence before the universe, and created the universe. The Christian God is a God who was never created, but a God who has always been, the creator of the universe, he is not physical but acts on the physical. These statements have led many scientists to believe in not only a creator of the universe but the God of the Bible.
I may sound crazy to you, but I believe in a God who loves each and every one of us. Every human is looking for love, and in God is where I find love. An endless source of it. God is real because love is real. God is real because I am real, and I know for certain that no human could have the power to create this crazy beautiful place we live in, nor could have it been created by chance. Have I completely proven the existence of God? No. But these are arguments are not meant to be taken lightly. Think about this article, and think about the God I am talking about.
Whether you believe in the God of the Bible or any other God, I dare you to search for the God who loves you and calls you by name. I believe that if you truly seek after God, he will reveal himself to you. Read the Bible! Pray! My God is faithful, and will show you the truth.
Have faith my brothers and sisters.
