It’s a crazy thing to be fascinated with someone who has no idea that you are interested. When you sit and think how y’all would look together, and play out and entire life with the person. From the first date to the wedding, all the way to the retirement home where you both watch the sunset on your allotted time. But then, you snap back to reality and realize that can’t happen until you make the first step.
That first step is the hardest; it determines your success or your failure. It can decide whether she will share your last name or if you will just be her “bro.” Then you think it may be best for it to just remain in your imagination. At least you can dream, right? Your friends try to cheer you on, but your heart is beating out of your chest and the words can’t seem to flow the way that you rehearsed in your mind. After approaching her, you can’t say what you mean. You decide to abort the mission and walk away while your conscious is upset with you saying, “C’mon man, all you had to do was tell her how you fell.”
You walk off into the distance, alone, as she stands there wondering, “I hope he makes the first move because I’m too shy to express they way I feel.” Neither one wanting to confront their feelings while both miss out on a possible life together, just to remain friends.
