Within the past year, a new form of social media called VSCO has taken the teenage world by storm. VSCO is a new place for girls (and occasionally boys) to post their images freely and anonymously, kinda of like Instagram but without the likes. I have found (and am guilty of) using VSCO as a place to post the pictures that are "not instagrammable" or "won't get enough likes". What's so controversial about VSCO is how girls are able to post anything, and I mean ANYTHING, without any censoring or guilt. Being a user and observer on VSCO had led me to a few conclusions:
There are Two Types of Girls
Typically you'll find two types of girls on VSCO, the ones that post in their panties and flattering pictures of their bodies or the ones that post pictures of their everyday life. I greatly enjoy looking at the pictures that people take throughout their life; it allows me to take a little glimpse into what they see and experience everyday. I find myself quickly scrolling past the more suggestive pictures because of my lack of interest. But honestly, you do you girl. If posting those pictures is what's going to make you happy then seriously, you go for it. All power to you. Just throw in a landscape pic or two to balance out the vibe.
There's NO Privacy
VSCO allows anyone and everyone to see the pictures you post whereas Instagram and Twitter give you the options to be "private". This feature allows viewers to be very mysterious, you could have 5 views on a picture or 5,000. VSCO also allows you "post to your collection" which is essentially sharing someone else's a picture to your followers. This can shine some light on your photos to other users whether you want to or not.
There's Different Content
The content on VSCO is also a lot different than what you would find on other forms of social media. VSCO can be a place for you to post pictures that wouldn't "get enough likes" on Instagram and it's also a place where you can post multiple pictures in one day without the fear of losing followers. It's essentially a Facebook album with followers.
Lot's More Raciness
And my final and very obvious point about VSCO is the very suggestive pictures that you can find. Like I said, if posting those pictures is what's going to make you happy then go for it! The only thing that I have a problem with is the awkwardness and opinions that form if a college or employers were to find these pictures. I know it's unlikely, but that's a pretty high price to pay just to show off the new Victoria Secret underwear you bought.
Now readers, all these points are just opinions from a girl that loves, posts, and observes on VSCO. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion as well as their own pictures, so keep on posting people :)
