Now what most people are excited about once Summer gets here is the different things that you can do when certain parks, pools, or camps are open. What I am excited about mostly is catching up on shows that have new seasons, finding new shows, wishing what amusement park I could go to, or even catching up on much needed sleep all while sitting on my couch. As you can already figure, I am a professional couch potato. In my definition, a couch potato is someone who has no plans and finds solace in sitting in the house and doing things that most people do everyday. Now, I don't just watch Netflix or TV every single day, but I manage to get in a good read every now and then. Every summer, I manage to sit on the couch from May to June in hopes that someone would have plans that they would want to share, but instead I am stuck inside of my house.
Once July gets around, I usually find myself doing things outside the house but it's not very often that I do. If you are a couch potato, you can relate because not being able to do things every summer sometimes can make it feels like you don't have any friends. It could be good or bad, but it's mostly good because you have many things that you could do such as find a good book to read, get mentally ready for the next college semester, or maybe get in shows that you weren't even interested to watch while it was on television. From experience, I usually use my summer to spend time with my family, read a book, or even watch Netflix until I fall asleep. This summer, I was a couch potato to an extent. I finally organized my book shelf, unpacked my things, write articles for the Odyssey, and even learning how to cook certain things with my mom. I was even able to study properly for my permit test and I did get my permit, so up next is my license!
Now that summer vacation is nearly coming to an end, I don't regret what I did this summer because not only did I catch up with shows that I wanted to see, read books that I always wanted to read, but I was able to comprehend the true meaning of what I am. I am a couch potato and there's nothing that I would change because not being a couch potato is something that would change my whole perspective of looking forward to my summer every year. Not everyone is going to be a couch potato and that's okay, but as for me and any other person who decide that being a couch potato is what they are, we are definitely rare. Fellow couch potatoes, I want you to know that we are not only a rare species, but we are also awesome just as much as any other person who spends their time out and about with friends. Don't get discouraged because we are also doing things with our summer other than just sitting around all day. Once again, we are rare.
We are couch potatoes.
