Making friends in college and making new memories is the highlight of the College. It is hard to make new friends at a new College when there is a Pandemic stopping a lot of social gatherings. Here are some ways I have stayed connected this semester.

Getting to Know Your Classmates

Most of my classes are online, and we do not meet face to face or via Zoom. Instead, I have had the opportunity to get to know my Classmates through a Group Me for my specific classes. We have created a "friends" chat in most of my classes, which has been a great connection point. We meet on Zoom to talk with each other, and we have had a few theme nights like Pajama Party, movie night, and soon to be a virtual Halloween party. Another great way to get to know your Classmates is to do a virtual study group. This way, you are getting to "hang out" with friends and study hard for your exams. Getting to know my classmates allows me to feel connected to my class and helps make the class a lot more fun!

Joining Clubs

Even though most clubs are not meeting on Campus, they are still meeting virtually. Most Universities list your clubs, their "meeting" times, and a description of their club. Choose a club that interests you or something that may challenge you to grow. I recommend joining a club related to your degree or something that looks good on your resume. For example, Psychology majors should join the PSI Beta Club or a Psychology Honors Club. Once you find a club that you want to join email the Professor of the club to gain some more information. Joining a club allows you to meet new people, gives you something to do, and looks good on your resume.

Getting to Know Your Roommates

One of the best forms of connection has been getting to know my roommate. You will spend a lot of time together in your apartment or dorm so it will make things way less awkward if you got along. My roommate and I spend a lot of time together having fun and learning more about one another. We play board games, watch TikTok's together, and shop (safely) together for fun!

Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:
