The Best TV Of The 90's And Early 2000's

We are all products of the things we watched when we were growing up.

I feel like every generation has their thing that they did or had best. For instance: those growing up in the 80's seemed to have the best music, and those in the 2000s have the best technology. Fall is in the air, and what better of a time for a little Nostalgia.

Growing up in the 90’s I am extremely biased and feel that we had a lot of great things that other generations did not get the chance to capitalize on. We were a gap generation; before social media and technology had completely overtaken everything we do, while still having the opportunity to dabble in these new innovations, and be on the forefront of these new technologies. We are the years of balance, playing outside most of the day in our youth, but making sure we were up by 7:00 AM every Saturday to watch our favorite cartoons. The 90's brought a change in the way we look at technology, leisure time, and human interaction, which is something that I love so much about growing up in the 90,s.

We were the first generation to really experience cable television with 100 plus channels and some specifically devoted to us children such as Nick, Disney, and WB Kids. Perhaps I am partial, but with this expanded television market, the networks had to improvise and create the best of the best when it came to television entertainment for those growing up in the 90s, and in my opinion this lead to the best children/teen TV shows and Cartoons that have been created to this date (I mean some of these programs even made education fun). Most of these TV shows have since stopped running, but if you are lucky you can still watch them late at night or on special networks. These shows were great for all ages, combining humor, action, and most importantly life lessons that many programs before, and after the 90’s could not match. This was before the influx of trashy reality TV that fosters bad decisions, bad morals and portrays “unreal realities”.

The following is a list of the greatest TV shows of the 90s, a time period of arguably the best Television programming ever for all ages. This list is separated by age groups the series were marketed to, however most of these programs were enjoyable for all ages. Although some of these programs ran past the 90s, these shows are products of our generation. I am sure I forgot some favorites, but took some of you on a trip down memory lane. If you are looking to watch some of these shows you can normally stream them online (I have to encourage no illegal streaming…….) on Netflix, and late at night on many of these networks that are still around. This list is numbered but not in any particular order.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
