The Best SNL Characters

"Saturday Night Live" has been popular with people of all generations. Now on its 41st season, SNL has jump-started the careers of great actors and actresses. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, and Bill Hader just to name a few. Many people have different cast members and favorite skits. I started watching SNL about 5 to 6 years ago, but I have seen some skits from the past. I understand everyone has their own favorites, but here are my favorite characters that I have seen on SNL.

Darrell Hammond -- Sean Connery, Bill Clinton, and Al Gore

Hammond does a great job as these three characters. As Sean Connery, he just rips into Alex Trebek (Will Ferrell). While his language is blunt and full of cutthroat statements, it’s so funny and he is a highlight of the Celebrity Jeopardy skit. His Bill Clinton is near perfect. He nails all the parts of being President Clinton and during the debates; he has me laughing so much. Lastly, Hammond plays Al Gore and has an incredible debate with Governor Bush (Will Ferrell). He always refers to the "lockbox" to the answer for every question.

Taran Killam -- Jebediah Atkinson

Taran Killam has been a star of SNL ever since I started watching the show. There are so many characters to pick from, but I had to pick his best character in my opinion. Jebediah Atkinson is a movie critic that comes on the Weekend Update segment and rips into every single aspect of the entertainment industry. He claims to have not liked one song or movie ever created.

Will Ferrell -- George W. Bush and Alex Trebek

Ferrell just tries to control Sean Connery as Connery rips into his mother. However, he does a great job as Alex Trebek and jeopardy is always funny to watch as Ferrell hosting as Trebek. Also, his George W. Bush is amazing. The first debate between Vice President Gore (Darrell Hammond) and Governor Bush is absolutely hilarious. Bush is asked to sum up his campaign in one word and he says “strategery”. That one word response is one of my favorite moments that I have seen on SNL. The debate between Gore and Bush (Hammond and Ferrell) is featured below.

Amy Poehler -- Hillary Clinton

Amy was a great a cast member on SNL. Her Hillary impersonation was spot on and was awesome to watch during the political campaigns. Part of one of her speeches is featured below as he and Palin cross party lines to address the role that sexism is playing in the election.

Tina Fey -- Sarah Palin

Tina was spot on with this impersonation. It is by far some of her best work on the show, and at times using Sarah’s exact words from an interview with Katie Couric. Sarah is one of my favorite characters from the show and it gets me almost to tears every time. Her most famous line of "I can see Russia from my house is my favorite line from Saturday Night Live.

Kate McKinnon -- Hillary Clinton and Justin Bieber

McKinnon is one of the best cast members currently on the show. She does the new Hillary Clinton impersonation and does a great job just like Poehler did. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can’t even choose if McKinnon or Poehler does a better job. Also, her Justin Bieber is amazing. She is featured in a few different skits and just does an amazing job, so spot on and so funny.

Bill Hader -- Stefon

Hader is still one of my favorite cast members. His work on Saturday Night Live was amazing. His most notable character is Stefon, who tells tourists of New York “just the place for them” on a night out in New York. The places are definitely not good places to enjoy a night out, and it is so comical what he says are New York’s “hottest clubs. He also has a “romantic relationship” with former Weekend Update correspondent, Seth Myers which adds even more humor to Stefon’s character.

Keenan Thompson -- Steve Harvey

Thompson hosts Family Feud on the show. He impersonates Harvey and does a great job. There are skits of the show when Justin Timberlake hosts and other skits with “families” who go up against each other.

Rachel Dratch -- Debbie Downer

Debbie Downer is a lot of people’s favorites. Debbie always brings down the mood and does it in such a quick, swift way. Rachel Dratch makes Downer such a great character and is definitely near the top of my list.

Alec Baldwin -- Tony Bennett

I have only seen Baldwin do the Tony Bennett impersonation on the 40th anniversary special. The way he speaks and raises his voice at the end of every sentence is just hilarious. An example of this is when Bennett says, “Its like Atlantic City took a giant crap and out came the 4th of July.” Baldwin does a great job, and has had an incredible career after SNL.

Bobby Moynihan -- Drunk Uncle

Moynihan is hilarious during his drunk uncle skits. He gives his opinion on different things, usually holidays. It always ends up being completely off topic and with drunk uncle being too drunk and crying about how he isn’t a better person. It’s always hilarious and I love every time he checks in with weekend update.

Tracy Morgan -- Brian Fellow

Tracy does a great job as Brian Fellow’s in his return to Saturday Night Live as the host. Following his near fatal car crash, Morgan came back and hosted SNL. During the show he does a skit about Brian Fellow’s, a host of a show about animals. Different cast members will come on the show with different animals, and Tracy will never be interested by what they have to say. He will just always repeat “I’m Brian Fellow” and not listen to the people talk about the animals.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
