Being a best friend is not an easy job and you deal with a lot. Therefore, here are some unsaid rules on how to the best, best friend.

1. Thou shall always straighten the backs of each others' hair.

2. Thou shall share their alcohol when you run out.

3. Thou shall listen to you cry whether it's from stress, boys, or just emotions.

4. Thou shall take embarrassing pictures...

5. ...But never post them...

6. ...Except on your birthday in a really awesome/really embarrassing Instagram collage.

7. Thou shall always tell each other the gossip they just heard.

8. Thou shall never leave a party without one another.

9. Thou shall respect "dibs" on a guy.

10. Thou shall never judge her behavior from last night.

11. Thou shall pick her up from a boy's place the next morning.

12. Thou shall always say "I love you" to each other.

13. Thou shall realize there's no such thing as TMI with each other.

14. Thou shall always like profile pictures and Instagram posts.

15. Thou shall get pizza together every weekend.

16. Thou shall accompany one another to the bathroom no matter how small her bladder is.

17. Thou shall tag you in funny/relatable instagram posts (@thefatjewish).

18. Thou shall tell each other when they are not pulling off an outfit. Kindly.

19. Thou shall hate people just because she does.

20. Thou shall love each other even when you hate each other (just like Meredith and Derek).

21. And thou shall refer to one another as each other's person.

22. Thou shall let you come over no matter what time it is...

23. ...And let you sleep in their twin bed with them.

24. Thou shall have plenty of inside jokes.

25. Thou shall Facebook stalk all your favorite hot guys together.

26. Thou shall always give the best advice.

27. Thou shall laugh. A lot.

28. Thou shall always let her borrow your favorite dress...

29. Or any article of clothing, even underwear.

30. Thou shall always be there for one another.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
