Social butterflies sometimes find themselves in sticky situations. From group to group they may find themselves experiencing different things and meeting new butterflies; however, it’s easy to come across those groups that’ll leave you stuck in some nectar. That’s why it’s important to be versatile, yet have one person to count on: a buddy, a soul mate, a best friend. Here are ten reasons why it’s important to have a best friend.
1. The one and only problem of ultimate boredom.
Calling up a best friend will always result in them wanting to see you too as long as they aren’t truly busy or sick. Most of the time; however, they will still find a way to squeeze in time for their other half even if they do have plans. No matter what, it’s destiny to have a drama free and fun time with this person.
2. You don’t have to worry about impressing them.
Nobody wants a friend that’s a 100 percent slob, but to wear sweats, a hoodie, having not showered yet for the day, and messy hair isn’t a problem or embarrassing around them. If you think about it that’s how you normally look when you leave their house after a fun night's stay.
3. They love you for you.
When around your best friend, you don’t have to worry about dropping food down your shirt at dinner because you’re just going to laugh. Your house may not need to be absolutely spotless every time they come over. They’d never want you to act fake or different around them just to be sophisticated and impressive. Getting a laughter roll going with your best friend isn’t normally poised by any means.
4. Best friends aren’t afraid to be brutally honest.
If you ask their opinion, expect a true answer. They are only looking out for you. They’ll tell you if you need to reel in some flirting, or wipe off a little make up.
5. Someone to trust.
Social butterflies often end up sharing too much of themselves with whoever they are feeling close to in the moment, but as soon as they fly away, who knows where else your information is. Also, a best friend will genuinely listen to what you are telling them better than a random friend or group of people would. You know your secrets are safe with them, and it’s even a good feeling when they give you their trust and deepest secrets in return.
6. The vent session.
A best friend doesn’t always know what to say in trying situations, yet them just being on the other end of the phone or sitting next to you with their arm around your back will put your mind at ease. Cry, talk, or scream, but they’re listening to you and they care.
7. They know you better than anyone.
Sometimes we don’t know what we want. A best friend is an outsider that’s close enough to you to see where your head may be at. It could be as simple as deciding what kind of ice cream you want to order. They’ll tell you what to get because they’ll know you’ll always regret not going with your favorite. On more serious terms, they can see when things may be getting to wild with other people. A best friend is always someone to come together with to decide what guy/girl you want to be with or what may be the right choices for you to make.
8. The wing man or woman.
Getting together with more of a crowd is exciting, but it’s good to have your best friend with you in case of an awkward situation. Plus, they can lookout for you, and you don’t want to miss a good ole time together either.
9. A second family.
Family is an incomparable bond of blood that we humans share. Family does not only extend by blood, but by love. At the end of the day, you love your best friend. They mean more to you than anything and they will always be there for you. To hurt them, hurts you, but it’s a good aspect to experience in life. You begin to call their mom and dad yours as well and you begin fighting with their siblings as if they were your own. You can share your life with their whole family and feel respected. It’s a house to stay at for fun or in need. And you are always welcome to their refrigerator.
10. The long haul.
A best friend is someone to count on being with you long term; for instance, for the 16 years I’ve been alive, my best friend has been around for thirteen of them. They are in every school dance picture, you make plans for them to be your college roommate because you couldn’t stand anyone else, they’re in your wedding, they babysit your kids, and you sit on the porch drinking coffee talking about all of the great memories and inside jokes throughout your lives. A best friend is necessary. A best friend is the most beautiful butterfly of them all.
