The funny thing about acoustic music is that you can find a different mood to suit every season. It's getting chilly outside, and nothing makes me happier than pulling up a new fall playlist and imagining I'm driving through the mountains as the leaves change color. The following songs are some of my personal favorites, and Spotify agrees; check them, out and maybe you'll like them enough to add to your own playlists!

1. "Mykonos" by Fleet Foxes

This song is perfect for mellowing out, and Fleet Foxes is a staple band for anyone who likes acoustic folk music.

2. "You Never Need Nobody" by The Lone Bellow

Video via YouTube

This is the quintessential "keep you awake while you're driving" folk song; it's beautiful, it's powerful, and you can belt right along to it if need be.

3. "Switzerland" by The Last Bison

Video via YouTube

The Last Bison was fairly popular at my school during my freshman year; they're local and they even played a couple of shows nearby. "Switzerland" is by far my favorite -- the instrumentation is great, and as a singer, I appreciate proper use of harmonies!

4. "Emmylou" by First Aid Kit

Video via YouTube

First Aid Kit is one of my favorite acoustic bands, and I've loved "Emmylou" ever since it was a free single on iTunes. The fact that it keeps cycling into my playlists should tell you everything: it's subtle, it's wonderfully melodic, and again, the harmonies are on point.

5. "Need the Sun to Break" by James Bay

Video via YouTube

James Bay is a very recent new favorite of mine, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't start listening to him earlier. When this one came on, my jaw dropped and I immediately saved it. Just listen. You'll understand.

6. "Moving Mountains" by The Brevet

Video via YouTube

This song has got a quirky vibe, but it's upbeat and it's great for jamming in the car! The Brevet is a fairly new band on my radar, but everything of theirs I've listened to has been great!

7. "Take the World" by Johnnyswim

Video via YouTube

Johnnyswim is one of my new favorite bands, and this is one of my favorites off their first full album. Go check out the entire thing!

8. "All My Loving" by The Well Pennies

Video via YouTube

"All My Loving" is one of my favorite Beatles songs, and this band does an excellent job of giving it a fresh spin. By setting it in a more acoustic context, the meaning of the song is made even more mellow and the sound is made even better.

9. "Cherry Wine" by Hozier

Video via YouTube

Hozier is another staple artist in the acoustic folk world, and this song is a personal favorite. It's super sleepy and the lyrics are gorgeous; a far different vibe from "Take Me to Church."

10. "Heart's Content" by Brandi Carlile

Video via YouTube

This song is, for lack of a better word, adorable. It's catchy, and the album cover is fantastic.

11. "A Beautiful Mess" by Jason Mraz

Video via YouTube

This song is one of my favorites, so I am slightly biased. Just take a listen to it. It's simple, beautiful, and manages to hit you in the heart every time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
