Spring is here and with it comes loads of exciting things. The birds are singing and people are playing out on the quad. Life is great until that dreaded rain cloud comes and they sky begins to pour. Spring is basically ruined for the day, right? Wrong! Grab your umbrella and strap on your rain boots because it's time to go puddle jumping! I know it sounds childish and silly, but trust me when I say that puddle jumping is seriously the best way to spend a gloomy spring afternoon.
Puddles are easy to find and getting some fresh air is never a bad idea. With finals so close some exercise and a reason to simile are always helpful to relive stress and refocus your thoughts. I have often thought that children knew best when I saw them playing and the more I grow up the more I know that is absolutely true. The way they innocently find joy and excitement in almost everything is simply incredible to me and has become something I strive to incorporate into my daily life as well. We only have one life on this earth so why not enjoy it as much as we can. Playing games and having fun is what life should be about. What's the point in doing something if it does not lead to something you enjoy? I know there are some things we just have to do but most of the time it is up to us to make the most of every situation.
The puddles may look deep and if you slip you will get drenched but that is part of life. Learning to take the good with the bad is the only way to get through. When you can't see the bottom of the puddle it is important to look around and make sure there is someone who will help you up and then laugh with you when you fall. Laughter is the best medicine and the best way to heal is to laugh with someone else. Sometimes the fall stings a little and you scrape your knee but with friends around they will always be able to pick you back up and remind you why you are jumping in the puddles in the first place.
When you have had enough fun jumping in the puddles some dry clothes and a warm cup of tea are great ways to settle back into work mode and get everything done on time. Make sure to dry your head because if it says wet and cold you can get sick and with such a busy time around the corner being sick is the absolute last thing you want to deal with.
Did I just use puddle jumping as a way to give a wacky metaphor on how I think life should be lived for fun? Yes, I did but sometimes the only way I understand the world is in strange metaphors and they can be rather effective in getting my point across. Take life a day at a time and remember to have childlike fun every once in a while is all I am trying to say here.
