We have all looked at our pet at one point and thought, "I can't imagine my life without you," but have you ever thought about the actual benefits owning a point has had on both your physical and mental health?

-Research has shown that that owning a pet, cat or dog, can have a multitude of positive effects on your overall health and happiness. It has been proven that owning a pet can decrease depression, anxiety and stress along with lowering your blood pressure and decreasing your risks of heart attacks, strokes and allergies.

-Stress is a large part of people's lives, and owning a pet not only decreases your stress but it also decreases the negative effects that stress can have on one's body. You are provided with a companion that distracts you from your negative and busy thoughts when you play with and pet them. Pets are recommended for those who for those who have emotional and mental struggles because they have a calming affect.

-When it comes to the physical and medical effects that pets have, research has showed that pets, especially dogs in this case help to keep you more active because you are constantly taking them out for walks or to play.

- Animals aren't just therapeutic, they have also been used to predict an upcoming seizure, they assist parkinson's patients, and they have also been known to detect cancer.

-Animals are amazing in so many ways that it is no longer just a simple "want" to own a pet, but a helpful and sometimes necessary thing to do.
