In today's society, many northerners seem to be judgmental about people from Kentucky or the state of Kentucky in general. Little do they know that there are many benefits that tie into being a born and raised Kentuckian.
Kentuckians understand what hard work is.
Coal miners are considered the men who help build this great state. Kentuckians have the spirit of hard work and leadership. Coal miners are a clear example of this. They crawl deep into the mines day in and day out. Each day they collect coal dust in their lungs and on their faces all to make enough money for their families to live off of.
Kentuckians get the best of both worlds.
Although Kentucky has some great cities like Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky is also known for its beautiful rolling hills. Whether Kentuckians are enjoying the city lights of Louisville, or exploring the hiking trails of Cumberland Falls in Corbin. Kentuckians are able to enjoy the city life while also enjoying the beautiful outdoors that Kentucky has to offer.

When thinking of the south along with the state of Kentucky, Kentuckians are privileged with incredible cuisine. From the mint juleps, the hot browns, BBQ, famous fried chicken, bourbon, and derby pie. You name it, Kentuckians probably have a special recipe for it. Not to mention our grandma's famous biscuits and gravy. Kentuckians know the love of an ice, cold sweet tea, and a nice southern meal.
Kentuckians are the staple when it comes to horse racing.
Many of us have either grew up on horse farms or been around horses in our childhood to fall absolutely in love with them. They are beautiful animals. Kentuckians show out to the world on derby day with our classy southern style, our understanding of the horses, and our classic mint julep drink.
Many Kentuckians understand the importance of church.
In almost every town in Kentucky, you will probably be able to see a church every 5 miles or less. Whether it be Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, Church of God, Church of Christ, Nondenominational, etc.) It's many family traditions to be at church on Sunday.
Kentuckians are blessed with a good education.
According to an article in Washington Times, "The Kentucky Department of Education says the latest figures on statewide graduation rates are in, and Kentucky’s rate is higher than the national mark." Why are more Kentucky students graduating than the national mark? That is all thanks to selfless teachers who always have a smile on their face, have the drive to push their students to succeed, and spend endless hours at school planning, grading, and giving their students opportunities that they may not receive elsewhere.
My Ole Kentucky Home is our Lullaby
Kentuckians can't deny the pride they feel or the chills they get when they hear the state song.
