It seems to happen overnight. You go to bed on a cold night where everything is dead, but the next morning you walk outside to discover the sweater wasn't necessary and the dogwood is blooming. The next few days is a whirlwind of color as plants begin to come back to life and flowers explode from the prison of winter. The smell of spring is in the air. Afternoons are now spent outside soaking up the delicate spring sun instead of sitting inside watching Netflix. It's wonderful. It's spring!
The season of spring is a miraculous occurrence. Everything gets another chance to live again. Baby animals are born and life is abundant. The beauty of it rejuvenates people and they emerge from their houses. Spring sports begin, and people attempt to get rid of their pale skin. But spring is so much more than that.
Spring carries a valuable message for us. It shows us that the beginning of anything can be beautiful. The tiniest plant poking through the dirt is seen as beautiful. Baby animals are the object of adoration. This message of beauty comes at the middle of the school year so it often goes unnoticed, but it is important no matter what. We should embrace new beginnings. Things as small as deciding to attend a service club one day or even accepting an internship. They can seem frightening, but, the truth is, they are beautiful.
This mindset can even be applied to the everyday. Waking up in the morning gives us a new day. Every 24 hours we get the chance to start again, start fresh. Mornings can and will be dreadful some days, but they can and will be beautiful. Early-morning coffee can turn into a time to dig into the Word every day.
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” -- Lamentations 3:22-24
This verse is so relevant to our everyday walks. The Lord will renew us every day and will continue to amaze us with his blessings. These blessings should overflow from us onto those around us. The Lord gives us a new day for us to see the beauty around us and take action.
Spring is a natural affair that happens every year. Many times we take it for granted, or we just rejoice because we can pull out our shorts. But spring is a gift. It carries a message that can inspire us. The Lord can be our spring. He will rejuvenate us and give us fresh life every day if we lean into him and let our roots grow in him.
