The semester is coming to an end, which means college students everywhere are freaked out, stressed out and contemplating dropping out of school for good. We have either killed it this semester, or are terrified about the grades we will be getting.
No matter what your grades are expected to be, at some point at the end of April we are all about to have a massive breakdown. As much as we try to stay away from this impending breakdown, whether it is caused by either one of these or all of them:
1. Finals
It is time to start relearning everything that we thought over the past four months. If we aren’t relearning it, we are learning it because we decided not to pay attention the entire semester. Finals are only a few weeks away, and the reality of the semester is setting in.
2. Your professor is about to screw you over
We all know that it is about to happen. Whether it be they put something into the gradebook wrong, added an assignment, or gave you a massive project, your stress level is about to go to a level that is only possible around finals time.
3. Class registration
At the end of one semester, you have to start preparing for the next semester. This means creating your class schedule. At Texas Tech, this is easily one of the most inconvenient and frustrating point of the semester. If you haven’t already wanted to, you want to either punch or throw your computer across the room. Then, if you get unlucky enough not to get the classes you need, it is devastating.
4. Calculating your grades
Let’s face it, we all do this. There are only a few assignments and usually one test left. We come to the realization that our grades are worse than we realize. After calculating the grades, you come to the realization that if you do not get a 90 or above on the test, there is zero chance you will get a B.
5. Zero Sleep
With everything that is going on, especially because of studying, there is a lack of sleep. You are up all night finishing an assignment, but have to get up at 7 a.m. so you get to your morning class on time. The pure fact that there is a lack of sleep only worsens the impending breakdown.
6. Stress
It happens to all of us, and trying to get away from it is next to impossible. Something gets added onto our schedule every day. Whether it be with school, meetings from things that we are involved in, or work, there never seems to be enough time in the day to finish everything.
We all experience this breakdown. Everything comes together at once, and it truly feels like we cannot catch a break. April is the month we wish we could be outside enjoying the spring weather, but we are consumed with work, school and so much more. However, we know that we have to keep pushing on because the pain of April will be over in a few short weeks!
