11 Signs Spring Semester Has Gotten The Best Of You

Don't worry, summer is waiting for you.

11 Signs Spring Semester Has Gotten The Best Of You

Don't get me wrong, spring semester is still the time of your life between it being dage and formal season. There's nothing worse than having a final when it's a gorgeous day out and you are stuck in the stuffy library or a hot classroom taking an exam for hours. For some reason, spring semester seems so much more chaotic than fall, and leaves you always wondering if you will make it through. Even though it is full of good times, it is hard not to get caught up with spring semester blues. You are so close to summer you can taste it, yet so far away under a pile of textbooks for finals week. If you're not careful, you will slowly start to slip and fall victim to the spring semester in college. It can get the best of you mentally, physically and emotionally:

1. Your Waistline.

Between dages and all-nighters in the library, you will find yourself ordering out more and getting to the gym less.

2. Your Bank Account.

Your delivery bills will be at an all time high because of the cold weather at the beginning of the semester. And those 1 a.m. pizza trips add up, leaving you as the stereotypical "broke college student" you vowed you wouldn't become.

3. Your Grades.

For some reason, all of your exams and papers are due the same week and even though you said you'd start studying early, you didn't. It was too cold to walk to the library or too hot out to spend your day cooped up inside.

4. Your Room.

With free time nonexistent in the spring, you will walk into your room and wonder just how it got so messy. Exams can give you tunnel vision where you don't even notice the mess that seemed so tiny just days before.

5. Your Liver.

Dage season means the weekend isn't your only time to party. Quite often you find yourself partying more and studying less.

6. Your Appearance.

As your workload or hangover hits, the last thing on your mind is what you are wearing. Dressing up for class is no longer a thing. The one time you do make an effort, people will tell you you look good, reminding you that they have noticed you let yourself go the other days.

7. Your Social Life.

When it comes down to it you try your best to get your work done. But that does mean missing out on going out with your friends. It can get depressing watching everyone go out when you have to stay in so you can get an A on your exam.

8. Your Class Attendance.

When the weather is bad, not much can get you out of bed to go to class. When it's nice out you justify to yourself that you should enjoy the day outside instead of the classroom.

9. Your Sleep Schedule.

With all your exams packed into a short period of time, sleep becomes a rare commodity.

10. Your Mental Stability.

It's not uncommon to have multiple panic attacks during the week. The stress of your workload and relationships can start to drive you crazy if you have too much on your plate.

11. Your Mood.

All of these things starting to go downhill in your life may darken your optimistic "I'm going to get a 4.0 this semester" mentality you had at the start of the semester. You know it's your fault so you can't get mad at others but you can't help it.

Don't worry, though. After you get through the worst of it (aka exam weeks), the rest is the time of your life and summer is waiting for you. Finding the balance between work and pleasure in college is hard. If you see yourself slipping, catch it early so spring semester does not win.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
