We all have our favorite time of the year, but being a student makes you re-think which season you like best. If I had to guess, I would say that summer is the majority of all students favorite time of the year, mainly because of the obvious: no classes (Unless you choose the summer school route). Summer is my favorite time of the year, and the spring semester is my favorite semester because those are the months leading up to those glorious three months of school-free summertime.
1. The weather is changing for the better.
Instead of moving from warm to cold, we get to feel it gradually warm up. This is something to be excited about if you are like me and can't stand being cold!
2. Spring Break!
Yes, during the fall semester there are a few breaks and you have winter break to look forward to, but there really is not an entire week you get to take a break from class during the fall semester. Spring break is a time you can go on a road trip with friends, go home and see your family, or just work a lot so you have a little extra cash.
3. There is a better chance of having a snow day!
It is called "spring" semester; however, the first couple months of it are technically winter. We have already experienced a snow day or two this semester and winter is not over yet. Keep your fingers crossed for one or two more snow days.
4.Your days get longer.
I actually really hate day light savings time. I know it is there for a reason, but there is nothing appealing to me about the days getting shorter and getting so tired right around 4:00 p.m. During the spring your days are starting to get a little bit longer each day until we get to set our clocks forward again. Obviously, this means you get to have more time to work on home work, right? Whatever helps you sleep better at night.
5. You know where you are going around campus.
It always takes forever to figure out where all your classes are, and if you are anything like me, it takes a good two weeks to remember your schedule without looking at it. At least during the spring semester you know your way around a little better and aren't roaming around aimlessly lost.
6. You are already in the groove of things, not just on campus.
It really doesn't matter whether you are a freshman or a senior, at the start of the fall semester it feels a little weird getting started again. When you come back from winter break to start the spring semester, you already know how things are going to go and can easily get back into your school routine.
7. You have summer to look forward to.
As said before, rather than slowly moving into the long, winter months, you are moving to the long, wonderful, warm, fun summer months. Keep yourself busy and it will come faster than you think.
8. Everything starts to bloom again.
There are a lot of pretty things to say about fall, such as when the leaves change colors and start to fall to the ground, but then you have to rake them all up. During the spring, everything turns green and the flowers start to bloom, which also makes everything more happy and positive feeling. There is no raking involved.
9. The time goes by SO fast!
Seriously, think about it. We don't go back to school until almost the end of January. Spring break is about a month and a half after classes start. Then, finals are about three weeks after spring break. Spring semester always goes by faster than fall, in my opinion.
10. It's time to graduate (for some)
If you're a senior, the spring semester is the last few months of your college career. It's the time to make the most of this chapter of life while you can. Graduation is a day every college student looks forward to but also thinks will never come. When it does, you'll wonder where all the time went.
Everyone have a great spring semester! We're just getting started.
