Poetry On Odyssey: Desire

I am an open flame
In an empty house
I cannot be tamed.
No one will put me out

The hearts of angels and arches
Connects our two bodies together
It's about angles and churches:
We were doomed to meet in this weather

When we collide
You scratch and shove
Soon you must confide:
This is not love.

I will bite back at you
And I will complain of your negligence
Of my heart that you have destroyed with your claw and tooth
I will never give up, for you have no equivalence

Oh, how you look at me
The caring eyes pierce the darkest shadow of my heart
The stabbing sensation only convinces me
That you really care of how we part

The abyss in your eyes
Will not speak back
For my desire
Will not relax

For the heart controls my head
And my head controls my scar
I can stop while I'm ahead
Or I can see how far
I am willing to take it.

Empty feelings
Only your touch will cure me
My escape, from my feelings
For your fingers are endowed

My dreams become reality
My body begins to shake uncontrollably
I seek only to protect the life I must know
The destination that is your plateau

Every single day you walk into the room
You start to head my way
I assume the role of your husband on a sunny afternoon
But you pass right by my side

You, you are unaware of my life
I tremble before your knees for
I, I am aware of your might.
You've never seen me before.
Can't you see your flaws?
I am here to help you better yourself
I am not breaking any laws
For you endow purpose and happiness unto me

Oh please don't leave
You are my creation, amalgamation
You possess my heart, all that I believe
For I imply your animation

If you desire to go,
Your memory will be an ice cube
Left in hot cocoa
My body will melt without you
If I die without your grace
So be it
But I will never forget your face
In my dreams, I will see it
My heart is eternally in debt
To the life you have left.

For I
I am an open flame...

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
