The ABC's Of Syosset, Long Island

No, we don't know Theresa Caputo.

The ABC's Of Syosset, Long Island

Okay, so let me start off by saying that no, not all of these places, people, things etc. are located in Syosset. However, if you live in Syosset (or most of Long Island for that matter) you will most likely relate to this list. Now, without further ado, the ABC's of Syosset.

A - Adventureland:

You had your seventh birthday party here and all of your friends envied you for weeks. Twas' a grand time. You went recently with some friends because you had nothing better to do and realized how small and unorganized this "theme park" actually is.

B - Bagel Boss:

BAGELS. BAGELS. BAGELS. Bagel Boss is the go-to when you come home from college, I mean it is literally open 24/7. Need I say more?

C - Cardinali Bakery:

Perhaps the only store that has ever remained open for more than a month on Cold Spring Road. Not to mention their rainbow cookies are fuego.

D - Diners:

So in this lovely town, we have the On Parade Diner and Celebrity. You have a favorite that you attend religiously for those hungover mornings and you never go to both. Pick your poison.

E - "Can I get a bacon, EGG and cheese please?"

The only thing you ever order at Village Hero.

F - Fire Island:

You go here once in a blue moon for Memorial Day because mom wanted to change things up.

G - Gabby's Bagels:

The less appealing version of Bagel Boss but it is still amazing.

H - Hamptons:

What happens at after-prom, stays at after-prom.

I - Iced Coffee:

No girl goes ANYWHERE without one in her hand.

J - Jones Beach:

Let's face it. You don't go here.

K - Kidfixers:

Just about everyone and their mom in this town goes to this place for check-ups.

L - Lax Bros:

They're everywhere.

M - Manhattan:

You go here for a day to spend all your hard earned money on over-priced clothing, or to spend all your hard earned money on over-priced drinks. God forbid you have to change the train at Jamaica.

N - Nassau:

I mean, it is the county we reside in. Also some random guys from Jericho made a song about it that was low-key decent.

O - Oyster Bay:

Teddy Roosevelt is the place to be (when you have nothing to do).

P - "Piano Man":

You know every single word to this song. After all it is Long Island and we all LOVE Billy Joel.

Q - Queens:

You come here for the sole purpose of visiting relatives.

R - Ralph's

THE MOST AMAZING THING IN THE WORLD.

S - SYO:

Because no one actually says the full name "Syosset".

T - Tobay:

The only beach you attend.

U - Unique Town Names:

Okay so nothing actually starts with a "U". But... Syosset is afterall a very strange name for a town (Yes, I know it is Native American) however, ask anyone that is not from Long Island to pronounce it and you will die laughing.

V - Vineyard Vines:

The go-to apparel for every lax bro.

W - Walls Wharf:

The place you go to when your mom wants to go somewhere other than "The Main Event" for dinner.

X - X-Pressway:

No such thing as no traffic here.

Y - Yelling:

Also no such thing as whispering here.

Z - Z-100

The only radio station you listen to other than BLI.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
