The 8 Stages Of A Road Trip As Told By 'How I Met Your Mother'

One of the best parts about college is the numerous road trips you and your buddies go on. This is one of the only times in your life where you can be spontaneous and selfish on what you do with your time. No matter how long the drive may be, you always get excited for the opportunity to explore new places with your favorite people. Just like in the show "How I Met Your Mother," road trips are where friends have the time of their life together.

1. The preparation

You and your friends have decided to take the trip of a lifetime to an amazing place, and the planning starts. You can’t contain your excitement as you map out the places you're going to stop and the things you're going to see. Idea after idea pours from your mouth, no matter how ridiculous they are. It's all you can think about every second of the day until the actual trip.

2. The departure

The time has finally come for you to pack up and hit the open road. You're loaded with all of the essential road trip snacks and that perfect playlist. You pull out with the windows down, music bumpin’, and you and your friends are dancing like no one's watching.

3. The pit stop

That one person on the trip with the small bladder who loves to chug Diet Cokes has to stop for the first of many times. This gives you the excuse to go restock the food that you’ve already devoured, instead of saving it for the whole trip like intended. Twenty bucks later, you’re back in the car and that one friend already has another Diet Coke in their hand.

4. The lull

You’re only about half way through, and it seems like you've already listened to every song ever created. All of your passengers have fallen asleep, and you're left alone with the road in front of you. At this point, you're regretting this decision when you see how far you have left, and you start contemplating all of your life choices.

5. The real talk

Everyone comes out of their slumbers and things get deep. One topic leads to another, and it turns into an ongoing game of truth. Blackmail is created and a bond is formed between everyone after the secrets and embarrassing moments that have been shared.

6. The cop scare

You have been playing with fire the entire drive, hitting 15 over like the daredevil you are. You see a cop a second before you pass him, and you can feel your heart stop and your stomach drop. You scream some choice words, and start preparing your speech that you'll perform to try to get out of this ticket. Staring in the rearview mirror, you see that you have been graced with a miracle, and the cop isn’t on your tail after all.

7. The musical

The music is back on and the singing begins. There is only one requirement: passionately sing at the top of your lungs. The cars around you will enjoy the theatrical performance you're putting on. Maybe roll down your windows so they can hear the beautiful sounds that are flowing from the car!

8. The arrival

The extreme excitement returns and the anticipation of finally getting there is rising. The music hits full volume, and the bass is about to explode. You must document this unforgettable moment on Snapchat to show all of your friends how awesome this trip is. You take back every bad thought and regret you had about coming on this adventure, because you now have unforgettable stories and friends that will last a lifetime.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
