Losing friends sucks, but what’s even worse is losing the one person you never thought you would.
1. It is possible to only consider ONE person, your ONE true best friend
We’ve all been there, unable to decide who that number one best friend is, claiming that it’s totally normal and OK to have four people you can equally give this title to. Well, when you find that one special person, without you ever really noticing, she finally claims the title of number one!
2. Don’t ever decide on getting a tattoo with another person (and not just a boyfriend/husband, but friends, too)
You can never take back the engraved ink you have done on your body to represent your relationship with this one special person at the time. Because things change. Believe me!
3. Just because you may favor one friend compared to the rest for a while gives you no reason to put no effort into your other friendships.
Your best friend from fifth grade? She’s still here for you. The one from freshman year of high school? Yep, she's here, too. Just because you’ve formed some excellent and strong friendship doesn’t mean these don’t require attention. We’re girls, we all do. Always.
4. Other friends WILL get jealous and WILL take things personally.
Back to number three, it is a true statement that jealousy and envy from other friends will occur, and you will encounter day-to-day drama due to this. Friends may decide to eventually band against you and confront you, or some may completely lose hope on the friendship all together and give up. Either way, it’s gonna suck.
5. Your family will become theirs; and vice versa.
Appreciate what you have while you have it. You never know when a friendship may come to an end and whether you loved her family or not, you’re most likely never going to have any interactions with them again. So embrace the time with them while you have it, or don’t, but never take it for granted!
6. Looking back at memories will either make you laugh, cry or both.
The amount of pictures you took together is unreal. The day you find yourself scrolling through your camera roll, you try not to laugh at the time you accidentally backed your car into hers and you both just burst into laughter, you realize it hurts. Missing her hurts. But the memories are always going to be there, and that’s something to smile about.
7. Even the one person you never expected to hurt you, in the end, just might.
Regardless of why the friendship ended, whether it’s your fault or hers, it did. And even if it was your fault, when she still refuses to let you reach out to her and ask her how she’s doing, it hurts. And it’s totally okay because what does that tell you? You’re capable of caring a lot about another person. And that’s the awesome concept of love and friendship.
So,
instead of being hurt and distraught over your previous best friend friendship,
take it as a win. She’s missing out on someone who really, really cares, and if
that’s what she wants, let her have it! Let her be happy. Her friendship made
you happy for a long time, so maybe now it’s her turn. Trust me, there’s a
whole ton of people out there, and it’s more than easy to find yourself a better
best friend. One that will never leave you hanging.
